We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melody Council a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Melody , appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
After moving here over 18yrs ago and starting from scratch with no clientele with my salon business; I decided to step out on Faith once again with a new launch with consulting. This particular idea were things I was already doing, already licensed and experienced in since 1997 but had not turned it into a business for profit. I was lead to “use what you got” no need in going back to school and the skills I already have are money makers and profitable income strategies, so I decided to make it happen. I sat myself down to brainstorm and began to add those services I offered on my website. I soon began to share with the clients I already had; made business cards targeting what I offered, plus offered 15min free consultation chat to see if I could help or not. One thing is for sure, you may not be able to help every person that may come your way, but being able to refer them to someone who can and maybe share positive solutions. I love helping if I can and I love consulting because consulting is helping people with figuring out solutions.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I chose “not” to get a business loan, borrow from family nor friends but instead I used “my” tax refund and reinvested a portion of the funds into my business when I first graduated in Dec 2004
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The best strategy to grow clientele is being reliable, consistent, trustworthy, honest and repeat daily for every single person. I started here from nothing and built a simple word of mouth clientele base.
