We were lucky to catch up with Melody Cohn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Melody, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As an artist, I’ve always felt a calling to create. From as far back as I can remember, I’ve been driven to experiment with art in all its forms, which has ultimately led me to where I am today—a place where I feel truly fulfilled. While I didn’t focus on painting professionally early on, I believe that was meant to be. If I had concentrated solely on painting back then, I wouldn’t have the depth of knowledge and life experience that informs my work now.
In school, music and art were always my favorite subjects, so I naturally majored in music and minored in art during high school. However, after graduating, life took me in a different direction. I got married, had two amazing children, and juggled the responsibilities of being a mother, housewife, and working full-time. At that time, the idea of painting didn’t even cross my mind. It wasn’t until after my divorce, when my children had grown and left the nest, that I found myself drawn back to art—and I haven’t looked back since.
As a Healing Artist Facilitator, my journey into spirituality wasn’t something that happened overnight. I wasn’t always spiritual, but over time, I began following my heart and discovered the wonders of the universal law of attraction. Once I opened that door, it was as if I became insatiably curious, hungry to learn more. I started studying the chakras, meditation, archetypes, and much more. This thirst for knowledge eventually led me to create private healing events, where I hold space for others to feel safe, let go of toxic energy, and rebalance themselves. Through practices like chakra healing, sound healing, reiki, and other meditations, I help others tap into the universal healing energy for the mind, body, and spirit.
Understanding that everything is energy and knowing how to release the toxic energy stored within the body has become incredibly important to me. I’ve learned that the more we rebalance ourselves, the better and more grounded we become as human beings. Although I’ve faced many obstacles along the way, my spiritual growth has taught me how to fill myself with love, light, and positive energy, which is where true transformation and growth happen.
My expanded journey has been both creative and spiritual, showing the integration of art and healing practices in my life. It adds more depth to my process of discovery and transformation while maintaining the essence of my original thoughts.
Melody, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Through my art, I’ve discovered a unique way to channel and share my light-working energy. By using mixed media—specifically incorporating layers of glitter and mirrored glass—my artwork becomes more than just something to view; it transforms into a living, dynamic experience. The shimmering surfaces and reflective elements respond to the lighting and movement within a room, creating an ever-changing, radiant interaction with the viewer. This interplay of light and reflection imbues the space with an exchange of positive energy, making the art itself a conduit for that energy. The glitter and glass not only add aesthetic beauty but also act as metaphors for the inner light we all carry, reflecting that light back into the world around us.
In parallel, my journey through meditation has revealed that holding space for others is a sacred, profound gift. I feel deeply honored to serve as a facilitator for each healing event I host. To me, it’s not just about guiding people through a practice—it’s about creating a safe, intentional space where individuals can come to understand the deep truth that we are all energy beings. In these moments of stillness, surrounded by healing practices like meditation and Reiki, we have the opportunity to release old, toxic energy and reconnect with our higher selves.
What I long for is for more people to realize that this universal healing energy is always available to us. If we can learn to breathe, believe, and trust in it, the power of this energy can transform our lives. Whether it’s through meditations that guide us inward or through the flow of Reiki that heals us from the inside out, these practices are here to support us. I feel privileged to be a conduit for this energy, helping others reset, heal, and rebalance themselves. By facilitating these sacred spaces, I witness firsthand the magic that unfolds when we open ourselves to the healing light that surrounds us. Each event is a chance to help others rediscover their own strength, energy, and potential for growth, which brings immense meaning to my work as both an artist and a healer.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is beautifully simple: to continue doing what I am doing and follow my heart, because in many ways, I am already living my dream. Creating art and facilitating meditations have become the fulfillment of a deep, inner calling that has guided me to this very moment. Every time I immerse myself in the process—whether it’s painting with glitter and mirrored glass or holding sacred space for healing—I am reminded that I am exactly where I’m meant to be.
Art has always been a part of me, but now it serves as a radiant extension of my light-working energy. Each piece I create is an expression of the joy, love, and positive energy I wish to share with the world. Through its reflections and movement, my art invites others to experience not just beauty, but an exchange of uplifting energy that can transform a space. Similarly, my meditations are designed to offer a sanctuary for people to reconnect with themselves, to breathe, release, and heal.
I don’t feel the need to chase after anything more, because I’ve come to realize that the life I’ve created—this blend of art and spiritual facilitation—is already the dream I once imagined. My heart’s path has led me here, and my only goal is to continue walking it, creating with purpose, and holding space with intention. It’s not about reaching a destination, but about the ongoing journey of self-expression, spiritual growth, and helping others rediscover their own light along the way.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to live this truth each day, and my greatest desire is to keep following the flow of inspiration wherever it leads. As long as I am creating art and facilitating healing meditations, I know I am fulfilling my mission.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The greatest reward in my creative and spiritual journey comes from witnessing the positive reactions of others. When people view my art and I see their faces light up, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and fulfillment. Each piece I create is infused with my energy and intention, and when that resonates with someone—whether through the sparkle of glitter or the reflection of mirrored glass—it creates a moment of shared connection. Watching them engage with my art, seeing their joy or intrigue, brings me immense pleasure, as it means the energy I’ve poured into my work is reaching and uplifting others.
Similarly, in my meditations, the feedback I receive from participants gives me the same deep sense of satisfaction. Whether they share feelings of peace, clarity, or emotional release after a session, it reaffirms that the healing space I create is providing the support and reset they need. To know that I’ve contributed to their personal healing journey is both humbling and rewarding. Just like with my art, the light I channel in these meditations is something I’m honored to share, and every piece of positive feedback is a reminder of the impact this work has on others.
In both my art and healing practices, I feel truly blessed to work with light in its many forms. Whether it’s the physical light captured in the shimmering details of my art or the metaphysical light that flows through during a meditation, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a conduit for this energy. It is this exchange of light—through creativity and spirituality—that fills me with a profound sense of peace and purpose. Being able to share this with others is the greatest gift of all, and I am grateful for every moment I get to experience it.
