Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mellox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mellox, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I started writing music as a way to express anything I experienced in present or past times.
I feel I could’ve had more confidence and belief in myself starting out.
I think networking and being able to talk to people are major skills that are vital.
In the beginning I wasn’t sure if I wanted to fully pursue music so that’s what got in the way of me learning different things starting out.
Mellox, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an artist from Memphis, I go by Mellox. I’ve always had a love for music since a kid I started out listening to different genres. Eventually I found it as a way of expression so I decided to create my own music. I think the way I create music is different,my approach with the things I talk about is unorthodox. I give a different perspective and a way for people to listen to music. I’m most proud of me not giving up on myself and the continuous growth I’ve accomplished. Juggling music while maneuvering through life can be a test. I want people to know that my music is worth a listen, from my oldest songs to my newest ones you can definitely hear the difference on how far I’ve came a learned to create more efficiently.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think for me the most rewarding part of it is being able to put something you enjoy doing on display for the world to indulge in. Being able to see and hear people enjoying something that you created is meaningful to me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
If you don’t fully believe in yourself no one will. I think when you’re doing something you have to be sure about it otherwise it’ll show that you aren’t all in. And when others feel and see you displaying that energy they’ll have a reason to believe in what you’re doing because it’s obvious that you believe.
