Mello , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Mello Cool AF, is one of the most underrated female lyricist on the underground scene. She grew up in the inner city of Atlanta, GA. She quickly gravitated to music as an outlet, a way of expression but most importantly a source of empowerment. Growing up she was inspired by artist like Ghetto Mafia, T.I , Young Jeezy, Tupac, Biggie and Queen Latifah.
“Queen Latifah made me feel like I could be anything I wanted to be. She was everything to me. Rapper, Singer, Actress just a boss. I knew I one day wanted to achieve the level of success she has. But T.I , he is like my Rap Father, he really shaped the culture of my creative expression, my drip, my coolness, my delivery, how I see a beat, the attack, the emotion. He is raw!”
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Mello began her professional music career in 2016. She began working with local producer and audio engineer GMP Champion and he birthed a new musical beginning for Mello. Together they created her Debut EP “Melloween” in 2018. From there everything started to look up. She started performing in varies showcases within the metropolitan area of Atlanta.
“I remember recording my first song back in middle school with my cousins and then another in high school, but working with Champ just made it seem brand new and legit ”
I consider myself an Artist, musically multi faceted, only thing I haven’t mastered is playing instruments.
I’m known for my delivery, It’s raw, uncut, gritty, fun cool af and bodacious. Once I touch the mic and the beat comes on, I just turn into my alter ego and I love it there!! Im not afraid to get all in your face and pop it.
I’m most proud of my ability to continue to reach and achieve no matter what adversities I have encountered. I feel like that is what makes me different from other Female artist. I’m not afraid to be real , authentic and genuine. I value my approach to music. I desire to be like myself 💯!
Mello has been featured and showcased on varies Industry Platforms. She has headlined many local showcases and has open for a host of varies major Independent Artist like Gualagang Smoke, Dj Unk , Stuey Rock and most recently Londynn B.
Other accolades included being nominated and winning “Female Hustler of the Year at the Atlanta Hip Hop Awards hosted by Rico Owens (BCF) , performing for industry moguls and producers like DJ Scream and DJ Holiday, studio sessions with CME The Label, and meeting with DJ Blu (former Dj with Streetz 94.5)
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is being able to help others. The true essence of a leader is being able to pull another up.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Honestly, I am driven by the ability to live LOUDE (Living Our Ur Dreams Everyday).
