We were lucky to catch up with Melissa Rohlfs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned came as a result of my health and life coach training and that is to replace judgment with curiosity. For so much of my life, I was so critical and judgmental of myself and others ~ how I looked, my body, my weight, if I was “enough” as a wife and mom and it was exhausting. From the time I was young it was a constant comparison game and no one wins in that game!
When I learned to be curious it opened my eyes and changed everything for me! There are so many ways to be curious in life ~ from seeking to understand yourself better, to another who may see something different than you. It really allows you to see another’s perspective and “come from” which is something we desperately need more of in this world.
This lesson has helped me be a better human, a better wife, a better mom and a better me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Melissa Rohlfs, a holistic health and life coach, author, and advocate for helping women and teen girls find freedom from their struggles with food and body image. My journey into this field began with my own battle against years of dieting, food guilt, and emotional eating. Like so many women, I felt trapped in a cycle of trying to control my weight while juggling stress, responsibilities, and self-doubt.
It wasn’t until I uncovered the connection between stress, emotions, and how they influence our choices with food that I found freedom ~ and now, I’m passionate about helping others discover the same.
How did you get into your industry/business?
My personal journey inspired me to pursue certification as a holistic health coach. As I began to implement the principles I learned, I realized how deeply stress, emotional triggers, and mindset play a role in food struggles. Over time, I developed tools and programs to address the root causes of these struggles, helping women and teens not just heal their relationships with food but also live more balanced, joyful lives.
What type of products/services/creative works do you provide?
I offer a range of products and programs designed to meet women where they are on their journeys. These include:
Signature Programs: My flagship course, Finding Freedom from the Struggle with Food, is designed to help women stop dieting and start listening to and honoring their bodies.
Teen Programs: My Enough program empowers teen girls to cultivate a healthy body image and manage the pressures of today’s world.
Supplements and Tools: Carefully selected bundles like the Stress Freedom and Sugar Freedom to support natural health and healing.
Challenges and Workshops: Free online, interactive, community-based events like Crocktober and my free Lunch Packing Challenge are fun, practical ways to inspire change.
What problems do you solve for your clients?
I help women and teen girls uncover and address the stress and emotional triggers behind their struggles with food. Whether it’s emotional eating, undereating, or the constant cycle of dieting, my programs are designed to create lasting change by tackling the root causes.
What sets you apart from others?
My approach is personal, practical, and empathetic. I don’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I focus on equipping my clients with the tools to build a healthy relationship with food that honors their bodies and their unique lives. My journey allows me to deeply relate to my clients’ pain points, while my training provides me with the expertise to guide them toward freedom.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve witnessed. Seeing women break free from dieting, feel more energized, and finally make peace with their bodies is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of the example I’m setting for my own kids and the legacy of health and freedom I’m helping others leave for their families.
What do you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you?
I want them to know that I understand the struggle because I’ve been there. I’m here to walk alongside them, providing compassion, encouragement, and practical tools to help them create a life of freedom and balance. My work isn’t just about food ~ it’s about empowering women and teens to reclaim their energy, joy, and confidence so they can live fully and authentically.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn diet culture and how to listen to and honor my body’s cues for hunger and fullness. I had to unlearn foods being “good” and “bad” and ask what does my body need now.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes, “The Slight Edge” hands down has been such a powerful resource on my journey!
