We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melissa Parsley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Melissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.

If I could do anything differently I would definitely do more research prior to going into business. When you have a talent and people recognize it, you’ll constantly hear people say”oh you should start your own business. You’ll do great!” I heard that a lot and I did some research, but it was ok products, not actually on starting and running a business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Melissa Parsley and I’m Co-Owner of an event and party planning business RoMeN Enchanted Events , my business partner is Nicole Price,. Our motto is “no event too big, no event too small, at RoMeN Enchanted Events, we do’em all!” So to take a little dive into that, We don’t want to leave anyone out. We have set up events as small as private dinners or picnics for 2. But we’ve also setup a venue for 175. So we strive to leave no stones unturned lol.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

Nicole and I met by design. Neither of us are Charleston natives. We met each other at a football game. Both of our boys met in middle school. Unbeknownst to us, our girls were cheering at those football games for our sons who had sort of become best friends. The girls would bring their little Pompoms to the games and cheer louder than the cheerleaders (they were only about 4-5 at the time) lol.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I think that the main thing that helped me to build my reputation is making sure I provide clean work. And to go a step above the rest with providing top notch customer service. We also, send each one of our customers a personalized gift after every event they book with us.
