We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melissa Parr a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Melissa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard

Sheer Interiors is centered around “Client-Based Design,” ensuring that my clients are in control of the level of involvement throughout their project. This approach allows each design to be perfectly tailored to their vision and personal taste. I involve clients in every step of the design and decision-making process, so they feel confident that their style is accurately reflected in the final result. Additionally, I work on an hourly fee basis, providing flexible assistance tailored to each client’s needs, ensuring they receive the right amount of support to successfully complete their project.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m Melissa Parr, owner and lead designer of Sheer Interiors, and a proud University of Florida graduate [Go Gators!] with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. Over seven years ago, my husband Ryan received a job offer in Colorado, prompting us to make the move across the country. Following our arrival, I decided to pursue my dream of owning my own design firm, which led to the creation of Sheer Interiors. I initially built the business in the Breckenridge area, working on many beautiful mountain homes, with half of my current client base still in that region. Now based in the Front Range, I’ve expanded into the Denver Metro area. Sheer Interiors specializes in residential design, offering services such as paint selection, new construction and remodel consultation, kitchen and bathroom design, space redesign, material selection, and personal shopping—ranging from single rooms to whole-home projects. We also provide E-Design and travel services for projects outside our local area and collaborate with realtors and sellers on light home staging to ensure properties look their best for showings. Our affordable, hourly-based services deliver timeless, high-value designs with no minimums, allowing clients to utilize our expertise as much or as little as needed at any stage of their project.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

My business primarily relies on word-of-mouth referrals, as I believe that satisfied clients and successful projects are the best resources for attracting new business, so I have invested very little in advertising.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

I use social media and blog posts to showcase recent projects and stay connected with past clients. There’s nothing quite like highlighting a beautiful new space to inspire an old client to reach out with a new idea.
