Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melissa Parker-Fisher . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Melissa , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
One client I have been working with one amazing skincare client for about a year stands out. She came to me very stressed out and just wanted to relax. She also had the common Colorado dry skin issues so many of us have. It took her a while to get consistent with at home products because it wasn’t something she ever saw herself doing. Her confidence started to build and we became friends in the treatment room. This confidence led her to win a state wide award in her field. The day she told me she won the award she also made me cry. She expressed her gratitude in such a profound and articulate way that it reminded me of why I do what I do. I helping women feel good about themselves. Skincare is just my modality to make it happen! .

Melissa , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started in Esthetics school 7 years ago using my GI Bill from the Air Force. I spent 6 years in the military and never dreamed I would be in beauty! I have an innate passion for service and skincare is where I am able to best exemplify this. After suffering from my own skin issues my whole life I wanted to learn how to heal my skin. That led to a passion to help other women do the same.
My skincare practice is specialized as I perform some unconventional treatments. My most popular service is DMK Enzyme Therapy. This is a treatment that works on the structure and function of the skin vs simply treating topical concerns. I strive to make sure clients have the education they need to achieve and maintain results long after they leave the clinic.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Seeing the balance and joy my business brings me I would have chosen to start much earlier instead of going to the Air Force.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The client relationship is crucial. When someone comes to me to help them with their skin it’s a partnership. Some treatment plans can last as long as a year. There has to be strong communication, trust and connection for this process to be enjoyable.
