We recently connected with Melissa Marie Green and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa Marie, thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?

Luckily for me, I get to travel a lot for my business. My “vacations” though are actually time spent at home with Calen & our amazing Chiweenie (Jolene💖). But I still am constantly working even at home. I follow the advice from my dad (who was also an entrepreneur RIP). He always told me – “Business Never Quits.” I have it tattooed on me & I still live by it til this day.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Hiiiiii! If you don’t know me already, I’m Melissa Marie! I started my music group ( MILLIONAIRE$ ) in 2007 & once I started the “MySpace” music page it took off! 17 years later & still making music, performing at shows, events & festivals! I also perform/DJ at: Emo Nite(s), Hot Topic, & Subculture parties across the nation! I love keeping the “SCENE” alive! <3 Millionaires will also be performing at the famous “Whisky A Go Go” in Hollywood for our 17 year anniversary & we’ll also be performing at this years “When We Were Young Festival” in Las Vegas!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I give it to MYSPACE! I was about 15 when I made my account in high school just because all of my friends had one. I was a “scene kid” so that platform was perfect for me. I’ve been a social media influencer before “social media” was even a term. I had a HUGE following just for posting pictures of myself so when I started the Millionaires (music) MySpace in 2007 and promoted it from my personal account it pretty much took off overnight! We were on the Top Artists page almost immediately & were being asked to play shows and go on tour(s). Within the year of Millionaires starting we went on multiple tours and were asked to do the famous “Warped Tour” in 2009! My advice for anyone trying to build their social media presence: BE YOURSELF. Don’t try to be like anyone else or copy what other people do. Make YOU an OG like me.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Early on, the 2 other members of my Millionaires group left so I was left alone to do everything to keep it going & once I started to get everything going again I moved to England & then went through a divorce because of an abusive marriage. I moved back to the states with (no joke) NOTHING & had to start over completely. But I’ve always had my DGAF TWDC (fans) & I’m so thankful for their support & for keeping my music going. The “scene” music was pretty much dead out here during that time so I started working with companies to help with their social media accounts (& I still do today). I never gave up though! I know this is what I am meant to do and makes me happy! I have 2 new besties now with me in the group that support me & everything “Millionaires” so I couldn’t be happier! We’re ready to take over the music scene! xoxo
