We recently connected with Melissa Haile and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
God!! During all the chaos of the Pandemic I was constantly out and about just trying to spread love be it flowers or a sweet basket to cheer people up the business wasn’t even a thought in my mind yet. I found many people shocked when I would show up with something just for them. Often times, they would say wow what divine timing you have” I was going through this or struggling with that.” It just brightened their day. People would say you should start a business you are wonderful at this; I was just like “oh don’t be silly” and shrug it off. Until one day while doing dishes and just think how tired I was of the daily grind and stress of trying to be everywhere and everything to everyone. Just being exhausted thinking there has to be something more. The words Divinely Gifted just kept repeating over and over in my head, I held on to it for some time pondering maybe I am supposed to start a business. I played with those words and that thought of branching off into starting a business for some time before I finally took the plunge.
Melissa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I started my business with a box of business cards that I sat on for 5 months after being guided to order them. I just flowed and listened quietly as to what God had intended for me. I literally started with nothing just an occasional extra few dollars to buy some flowers and spread love. I wasn’t sure what would come of this just doing that but something in my gut was saying this is going to be big just trust there were months when I first started that I didn’t know how I would survive but every single time a bill came due the work and the money for it was always there. There are still times when it’s super quiet, but I now take those times to reflect on life and how I could do better. I also believe that if you are money driven you will always be chasing the next best thing to make a dollar but when you are heart driven it just seems to come effortlessly and you enjoy your family and your life so much more.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Having a kind heart and being sensitive to those around me. Being able to assist in amazing times and hard times. I also just want to constantly see others happy so as long as I can do something within my power to make stuff happen, I will do it. Second amazing people that surround me. My work is almost solely by word of mouth only. The tribe that has been created around me are my biggest cheerleaders, I am so very grateful for each and every one of them. Those that share my post, tell their friends and are constant repeat customers. I have shared countless flyers and done numerous ads on social media, but my favorite humans are the ones that drive my business. Lastly quality over quantity each person that I speak with has my undivided attention and so does the gift they are giving. I want them and the person receiving their gift to be proud I always share a photo before it even hits the receivers’ hands because no one should not know what they are giving and that often times happens a lot with corporate companies often times the customer doesn’t get what they asked for or ordered.
