We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Dominick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa below.
Melissa, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Trisha Stroderd and I started our aesthetics business in 2021 after meeting in 2019 and realizing our similar interest in medical aesthetics. We are both full time CRNAs that work in a hospital, wives, mothers and business owners.
Finding and carving time out for the business aspect without having any business knowledge has been the most difficult aspect this far.
We have had many missteps but have learned along the way. The best advice is don’t buy what you can’t pay for. Take the time to make thoughtful decisions for your business.
Not comparing your business to others is a tough thing to do but also vital to your success. Never give up!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Medical aesthetics is a growing field but what sets us apart is our medical knowledge. We have over 40 years of experience between the two of us. We have many years of anatomy training and continue to learn in our field. We carry an ultrasound as well in the need that we need to map out your facial anatomy.
Education, safety and natural results are the foundation of our practice.
We are able to provide services to our clients that include neurotoxin injectables, HA fillers, biostimulators, chemical peels, microneedling with PRF, medical grade skin care, laser procedures and radiofrequency microneedling.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Trisha and I met at the hospital. During Covid we had plenty of downtime so we began to talk and dream about what else we could do with our careers. We both are into self care and more of a natural look. We also like to help people as we have in our nursing and anesthesia careers. Originally we discussed just doing an IV business since it seemed that having an aesthetics business was difficult to start In the end we decided to go to an aesthetics training and the rest is history.
Our partnership has worked in part due to our differences. We aren’t complete opposites but it’s pretty close!
We have a mutual respect and understanding that has only gotten stronger in the years that we have been open. If you don’t respect your business partner you will fail.
Now we know when the other isn’t having a great day even by a text message. Frequently we start our days with a “good morning have a great day!”
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the best life lessons I have learned is that it doesn’t always turn out the way it is supposed to. I waited until my late thirties to marry. I had my son at almost 40 which brings a higher incidence of a child with special needs. When we discovered that our child would have Down syndrome we were caught off guard. You see myself and my husband are driven individuals who don’t slow down. Our son has taught us to learn to slow down and accept your path. He teaches us many lessons on a daily basis.
Same goes for our business. I put many timelines on myself that would mean success. Not all of those timelines have come true but we are still very successful.
