We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa below.
Melissa , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I was late getting into the Esthetics field, as I previously worked e-commerce for a global retailer. We all sometime settle for less to provide the best we can for our families, and I am no exception. When I noticed complacency and a everyday routine with no challenges, I knew I could no longer grow in my previous career. So I prayed about it sought advice from my grandmother. Well into my 30’s, I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Society demands so much of us to sustain and survive. That we sometime loose our way and struggle to find ourselves again.
But I knew with every fiber of my being I wanted something more. I desired another level of fulfillment out of life. I knew I Loved to Help & Serve others.
And Southeastern Esthetics Institute is where I chose for my formal education in my chosen field to chase my dreams. I had some of the Best Educators there, that challenged me and pushed me to greatness! I knew I’d never taken a chance on a dream before, but Courtney, Shannon, Paula, & so many more were not only supportive, educators; they were empowering women to succeed!
Now I knew I enjoyed spa night with my daughters while they were growing up and that it brought me joy.
So working in the esthetics field was where I knew I’d discover my joy and fulfillment. And when you have joy & love what you do. Is it really work? Absolutely not.
It’s Never too late to go back to school and learn something new. Was it always easy? No nothing worth having is. But if you want it regardless the sacrifice and challenges you face along the way, it will make it so much sweeter when you achieve what you set out too. So don’t give up, relentlessly seek with all your passion your dreams. You have one life and you deserve to live it on your terms.
Melissa , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love the Largest Organ your body has, your Integumentary System (Your Skin). I love to care for it and make everyone feel good about the skin they are in.
Because you can’t take it off like a outfit, you can’t change the color like your hair or nails. It’s with you come what may, so it’s essential to care for it, if you want it to look it’s very best!
That’s my passion that’s never going to change. I pride myself on helping serve others to guide them on their skincare journey. And when my clients ask what do you suggest without me having to recommend a regimen, I simply adore them for that! Because I’m not a pushy sell products type of person and I want to always offer affordable skincare services to everyone.
I help with Acne & Scars Treatments, Anti-Aging Facials, Specialize in Chemical Peels to Meet the Needs of Everyone. Additional skincare treatments offered here at Himalayan Salt Therapy & Spa Escape are Microdermabrasion, Hydrodermabrasion, Microcurrent, LED Therapy, High Frequency, MicroChanneling & Oxygen Facial Treatments.
We also have a Halotherapy Room, a Infarred Sauna, and offer a Foot Detox Service.
As well as a Body Contouring Service with RF as well as EMS Body Sculpting as well.
I believe my passion comes through in my work by helping others look their best. I strive to make each and everyone I touch Glow when they walk back out into the world.
I am a Esthetician that is progressive with your skin to help you achieve your goals.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe skincare education is a never ending journey. It’s not just about the certifications you acquire but the knowledge of what you gain. It spans well beyond the class room after you’ve graduated and passed all State licensing requirements and into the future of your career.
No one knows every single thing, so you’ve got to be willing to be receptive to all and open to learn new concepts.
Because I Desire to Know the Latest and Greatest Treatments to offer to my clients. I stay learning daily, studying new ingredients, new formulas and new procedures.
Even if you chose not to offer something in your own spa, it’s essential you understand what a potential client could walk in and have had performed.
So you’ve got to be hungry to learn all the time. The education process never ends.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Putting my knowledge from my education where my mouth is, lol! Seriously though when I get to treat a client and evaluate their skin.
Knowing what Iam working with and assuring them that it’s treatable.
Makes it all more worth the while.
A lot of people don’t know what Sebaceous Hyperplasia. Milia, or Telangiectasia’s are.
So when I explain to them what presents itself they know I know what I’m talking about and they know they can trust me to help them.
Because I care about them and I simply have some of the best clients ever.
