We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Case. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa below.
Hi Melissa , thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I started this journey much ‘later’ in life. While some know at very early stages that they want and know how to navigate the creative space, I was stuck between worlds. I knew I loved the stage – in any and every capacity (acting, singing, dancing) – but what I didn’t connect, was that it could be more than just a hobby…that you could make a life and living doing all the ‘things…’
Beyond that, I also had a love for education, dreamed of going to college, becoming an attorney like Claire Huxtable from the Cosby Show-:) so I wasn’t disheartened or discouraged…again, I was just caught between two worlds.
That being said, it wasn’t until I was entering my 40’s when a former associate of mine challenged me to believe that I could have this if I wanted it. The question was asked, “MC, what do you want?” And it was then that I decided, that I wanted THIS…
Although I wouldn’t change anything about my experiences; I would have started sooner. But then again, maybe not. Because I’m still here. I’m loving the space I’m in and I’m grateful for the highs, lows and everything in between.
Would I start sooner or later? I don’t even know!
Melissa , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Melissa Case, a singer, songwriter, actress, and voiceover artist, and the driving force behind Melissa Case Live. My journey into the world of music and performance started from a deep love of storytelling and emotional connection. Whether through music, acting, or voiceover work, I’ve always been drawn to the power of expression and its ability to heal, inspire, and bring people together.
My Work & What I Offer
At the heart of my brand is the belief that music is therapy—a way to connect, process emotions, and find healing. Through my performances, original music, and creative projects, I aim to create an experience that resonates with people on a personal level.
🎶 Music & Live Performances: I write and perform original and cover songs that blend raw emotion with captivating melodies, using music to uplift, heal, and empower.
🎭 Acting & Voiceover Work: I bring characters and stories to life in film, theater, and voiceover projects, using my voice and performance skills to create immersive experiences.
🎙️ Mental Health Awareness Through Music: I actively promote conversations about mental health through my work, using my platform to remind people that they’re not alone in their struggles.
What Sets Me Apart
What makes Melissa Case Live unique is the fusion of art and advocacy. I don’t just create music—I create experiences that connect people to their emotions and to each other. My performances are more than just entertainment; they’re a space where people can feel seen, heard, and understood.
My heart is deeply committed to conveying the message that music profoundly affects our mental health. The music we listen to, the environments we’re a part of, and the activities we engage in all play a role in shaping how we show up in life. Music has the power to amplify whatever emotions we’re already feeling—which means it can either support or disrupt our mental health depending on how we engage with it.
The Escape: Body and Soul Wellness Festival
This belief is what inspired us to create the Escape: Body and Soul Wellness Festival, an annual event that takes place every September during Suicide Prevention Month. While many focus on Mental Health Awareness Month in May, we intentionally host Escape in September to shine a light on how music can be a powerful tool in suicide prevention. By becoming more mindful of the music we consume, we can take one meaningful step toward protecting our mental health—and each other.
The 4th annual festival is taking place this year on Saturday, September 27th. We would love to share time and space with you and your families! Join us – more details will be posted on the website in the coming days!
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m incredibly proud of the community I’m building—one that embraces vulnerability, creativity, and healing through music. Seeing people connect with my work and find comfort or empowerment in it is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What I Want People to Know
If you’re looking for music that moves you, performances that leave an impact, or a creative voice that brings stories to life, I’d love for you to join me on this journey. Melissa Case Live is about more than just entertainment—it’s about connection, healing, and the power of music to change lives.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the connectivity of it all. In a world that seems so bent in highlighting our differences; in creative spaces it’s about recognizing how we are all the same and that the thread of connectivity transcends, race, religion, sexual orientation – all of it.
And in this space – we can just exist, love and be free
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Show support. Even if you don’t know who, what, when, where or how…just show up and show support. You might be pleasantly surprised at the new world, perspectives and loves you discover.
