We were lucky to catch up with Melina Alter recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Melina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
my name is Melina Alter, i have 23 years old and i live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since I was born I already knew that my life was going to follow the path of art. When I was very young I became interested in the subject of photography and painting. At school I couldn’t stop painting and taking photo sessions with my friends. I always knew how to do everything self-taught until I began to train more professionally once I finished high school. From there I pursued a degree in Graphic Design, took two courses in professional photography, one in motion graphics, another in advanced Photoshop, and two design internships. I am currently doing a painting workshop and working as a freelance photographer, designer and content editor for social networks.
Melina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Art is a very good way to express yourself. I think that with art I was able to find my personal style. I could consider my style quite nostalgic, contrasted, strong, dark. I make very good decisions and very good judgment in art direction. I believe that it is not necessary to be so literal when making an artistic piece, but rather to allow the viewer to interpret the piece in a subjective way.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In the digital world, supporting independent artists is essential. Society has a very important role in recognizing and financially supporting the work of these creators. Buying works directly, participating in crowdfunding platforms and spreading their art on social networks can help artists a lot. Collaboration between artists and Encourage local events, independent art fairs and collaborations between artists from different disciplines creates many opportunities.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about learning Mapping, it’s a tool that always interested me and I never knew what it was called. As soon as I can, I’m going to buy a projector and try making visuals. I would really like to do the visuals for some music show.
