Melik, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I’m entirely self-taught, honing my skills through the careful study of other artists’ work. They say practice makes perfect, and I couldn’t agree more. However, understanding how to practice effectively is key. If given the opportunity, I would leap at the chance to take in-person lessons to accelerate my learning.

Observation is paramount among the skills I hold dear. It’s crucial to keenly observe and mentally process what you see to fuel your creativity. Patience is equally vital; persistence is key, even when met with setbacks. Continuously practicing is the path to mastery.

Access to proper tools was one of my most significant challenges. Without the necessary pens, markers, inks, papers, achieving artistic goals becomes daunting. Having the right materials is essential for realizing one’s artistic vision.

Melik, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I proudly identify as a calligraphy artist, channeling my passion into crafting exquisite, personalized calligraphy artwork. Among my repertoire, a standout favorite is delicately inscribing names onto canvases, plates, and specialized papers, transforming them into cherished wall decor. Beyond this, I lend my expertise to crafting captivating calligraphy logos for businesses, signatures that resonate with authenticity, and adding an elegant touch to book covers. Moreover, my creative journey has led me to design a plethora of mesmerizing calligraphy tattoo motifs, each imbued with meaning and individuality, etching lasting memories onto the skin.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

As a calligraphy artist, I find my greatest fulfillment in witnessing the heartfelt appreciation of those who commission my work. There’s an unparalleled joy in creating art that is uniquely tailored to each individual, knowing that it holds a cherished place in their lives. It’s immensely gratifying to see how my art becomes intertwined with their personal stories and journeys, adding a special touch to their everyday experiences. This connection, where my creations become treasured keepsakes, is the true essence of being an artist—a profound sense of fulfillment in touching the lives of others through the power of art.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Embarking on my journey into social media, I initially harbored modest expectations of growth. However, as I witnessed the genuine appreciation for my art and the steady influx of followers with each post, my confidence soared. Encouraged by the positive reception, I immersed myself further, sharing my creations more frequently and engaging with a burgeoning audience. Collaborations with accounts boasting substantial followings provided invaluable exposure, catalyzing an organic surge in connections. Before long, I found myself inundated with messages of admiration and collaboration opportunities, leading to shoutouts and exponential growth. Today, boasting over 1 million devoted followers on TikTok and a thriving community of 25 K on Instagram, my social media presence stands as a testament to the transformative power of sharing one’s passion with the world.
