We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melanie Roberts. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melanie below.
Hi Melanie, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think the number one thing it takes to be successful is a genuine care for your clients/customers. I want to make everyone’s lives better so that everyone they touch is, in turn, made better. The more work I can take of the plates of my realtors, the more time they can spend getting more business and being with their families. My home drawings are meant to draw smiles and happy tears from everyone that is gifted them. And last but not least, the better my Bar Method “students” feel, the more fulfilling lives they can lead!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a Transaction Coordinator, I work hand in hand with all aspects of the Texas Real Estate industry to make the execution of transactions as seamless as possible. I support agents from all brokerages, on either side of a transaction, with a custom-tailored experience that ensures peace of mind and allows agents more time to spend where it counts…with their clients guiding them, step by step, through the emotional, but gratifying, process of finding that perfect home.
As an artist, I hand draw custom, grayscale drawings for anyone that needs them. These can serve as sentimental gifts for a loved one or client. I love hearing stories about how people cry when they see a place that is special to them captured in a drawing for a spot in their home or office!
As a Bar Method instructor, I am able to gift our clients with the same strength, peace of mind and flexibility that was gifted to me 5 years ago. After breaking my back twice over the course of my lifetime, I have found a pain-free life through The Bar Method and I could not be more grateful!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am a native Houstonian, wife, and mother of boys with an interior design degree from Baylor University. Having grown up in the real estate world, my love of homes and the industry developed at an early age. Because of this, I have had my real estate license since 2005. After drawing my new home in 2013 for some moving cards, other agents started ordering my drawings as closing gifts which supplemented my commission income. Now, with 4 boys of my own and a house to “keep,” working from home has become extremely important to my family and me. My selling of houses pivoted into “just” doing paperwork for the agents and becoming a referral agent only. Now I am happy to sit at home in front of my computer doing the bidding of my agents and drawing homes all over the United States. Such a blessing!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I think the key to a thriving social media presence is a good mix of personal and professional experiences. No one wants to hear about your business all the time…they want to be invited into your life and see what you do and how you do it. We are blessed to live in a time where more things are out in the open and not taboo. I love being an open book and helping people through circumstances of which I have come out on the other side.
