We recently connected with Melanie Peralta and have shared our conversation below.
Melanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
All of my creations are meaningful because they’re designed to help people heal but by far the most meaningful creation to me personally is the Moving Mantra Project. Sound healing music with a twist of pop culture to positively program the subconscious mind, I’m so proud of it. Not only did I write every mantra so intentionally from the deepest space of my heart but my team filled the production with frequencies and scientifically proven healing tones to positively alter the brainwave state of the listener. It’s music that is literally medicinal. Now there’s an entire live experience created around it called the Moving Mantra Sound Healing Journey which is a multi-sensory sound healing experience. Truly my most magical creations.
Melanie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I come from a small copper mining town called Superior, in towns like that there’s a lot of addiction so both of my parents were drug addicts. My dad got clean but my mom didn’t, so he took me and raised me by himself my whole life. I had a talent for music at a very young age and ended up being a singer/songwriter in the music industry by the age of 13. Two years later I started working with Atlantic Records and was on the verge of a major record deal. Music business politics got messy and everything fell apart. I gave up trying to be an artist and decided to stick to songwriting for a few years. After graduating high school I moved to ATL, then LA pursuing music even further. At the peek of my songwriting career I got pregnant when I was 21 and embarked on a massive personal development and spiritual journey within myself. Did a significant amount of healing and decided to leave the music industry to focus on motherhood. Through motherhood I became obsessed with personal development and later decided to create a women’s empowerment community. I started hosting live events and it grew exponentially. That led me to start my coaching business to help women transform on a deeper level and eventually landed me in positions working with people like Robert Kiyosaki, Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins. My career took off but music was still calling me. I was constantly still writing songs that helped me get through my own personal life challenges, my medicine. I called them Moving Mantras and eventually decided to share them with the world. When 2020 came and the pandemic hit, all my live events were put to a stop and I finally had the time and space to put towards music again. The Moving Mantra Project was born and it was a beautiful emergence of my two passions, music and healing. Now everything I create, from music to events is all rooted in healing, transformation and growth of the human collective on all levels. That is what the Melanie Peralta brand is all about.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I decided to start hosting women empowerment events I had shifted from being a songwriter to being a stay at home mom. My sons father was now the only source of income and when I told him I wanted to throw an event for women, he made it clear he wasn’t paying for it. I was literally broke with no money of my own but was committed to this vision God gave me. So I started a GoFundme page sharing my story, my mission and my goal to help women. Thankfully people donated and with that money I was able to rent a venue. I reached out to the most inspiring and influential women I knew and asked them to teach or speak, had a friend of mine volunteer to DJ and put together a dope experience with the resources I had. I even used all of my food stamps to pay for food and drinks. I hustled this event to life and it was a beautiful and successful turnout. We had 32 women attend what I called the Womben’s Brunch and just two years later we had HUNDREDS of women in attendance. The annual Womben’s Brunch was the catalyst of transformation to so many women and was created out of heart, soul, & pure hustle.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
In the beginning of my creative and entrepreneurial journey I was throwing darts in the dark. I had no idea what I was doing and was literally just figuring things out as I went. I didn’t know about the coaching industry and that I could hire someone to teach and guide me through certain things to avoid so many amateur mistakes. When I finally learned about mindset coaches, business coaches, etc, and understood the value of them, I hired one. It was one of the absolute greatest investments I ever made into myself and my vision and literally catapulted my career. Having that guidance and supported gave me a clear and knowledgeable plan of action that would have taken me years to develop on my own. Coaches and mentors are cheat codes, never hesitate to hire one.
