We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melanie Lahood a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Melanie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Bloom Beauty Room my mission is to guide each client on a journey of self-love and self-discovery. I strive to create a space where every person feels pampered, cared for, and truly seen-whether that means leaving feeling beautiful, refreshed, or simply nurtured.
Fulfilling this mission with each client means the world to me because I truly believe it’s crucial to take time for yourself-especially in a world that’s always on the go. We often forget to pause, breathe, and nurture ourselves amidst the chaos of daily life. I, too, am on my own continuous journey of self-love and self-discovery, and if I can support even one person on their path through my work, I feel like I’ve truly succeeded. That’s what makes this mission so meaningful to me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Melanie, 31, a mother of one and the owner of Bloom Beauty Room. My journey into the esthetics world began when I was 25. Before that, I was in and out of school, searching for a career path that truly sparked something within me. It all started with a simple conversation—my sister casually mentioned that I’d make a great esthetician. It was like something clicked, and a month later, I was enrolled in an esthetics program.
After graduating, I worked a few different jobs but always found myself daydreaming about creating my own space, a place where I could shape the experience and connect with clients on a deeper level. In 2022, I took the leap and opened Bloom Beauty Room.
When I first started, I offered eyelash extensions and body waxing, focusing mainly on brows and lashes. In 2023, I moved into a new studio, and shortly after, I began offering skin rituals. This was a turning point for me—it’s when I felt my true purpose begin to unfold.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach to beauty. I don’t just focus on surface-level treatments; I aim to create an experience that nurtures both the skin and the soul. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a brow wax, but for me, it’s about more than the service itself. It’s about creating a space where my clients feel comfortable, seen, and valued—even in those small, everyday moments.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget to slow down and care for ourselves. That’s the problem I strive to solve—offering a sanctuary where people can pause, feel supported, and be genuinely cared for.
I’m most proud of the connections I’ve built with my clients. Seeing someone leave my space feeling lighter, more confident, and grounded within—that’s the most rewarding part of my work.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of word-of-mouth referrals and social media. Happy clients naturally share their experiences, and that personal recommendation – which means the world to me, helps build my business. I use Facebook and Instagram to post my work/openings/reviews/beauty related tips. Since I work in a smaller community I utilize a lot of the community pages through Facebook to advertise myself and gain new followers or perhaps new clients who have not heard about me.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life was when I had my daughter while running my business. As a new mom and a business owner, I had to completely shift how I managed my time, energy, and priorities. At first, it felt overwhelming trying to balance it all, but I quickly realized that I needed to adjust my business in a way that worked for my new life. I became more intentional with my schedule, set clearer boundaries, and refined my services to create more efficiency while still providing the best experience for my clients. It taught me the importance of flexibility, delegation, and self-care—not just for me, but for my business and my clients, too. Looking back, that pivot made me a stronger business owner and a more present mother—which ultimately was my end goal, and it allowed me to create a work-life balance that truly aligns with my values.
