We were lucky to catch up with Melanie Haselmayr recently and have shared our conversation below.

Melanie, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

In the early days of CURATED., we operated as a staging and furniture rental company, addressing a clear and steady market need. However, as we worked within the industry, we recognized a significant gap in the luxury interior design market. Clients were seeking a design firm that could not only craft bespoke, high-end interiors – but also execute those visions with exceptional precision and efficiency. This realization led to a pivotal decision to transform CURATED. into a full-service luxury interior design firm.

The shift required us to completely redefine our business model, including restructuring our services and expanding our team to meet the elevated demands of this niche market. So that’s what we did.
We focused on building a firm known for both stunning aesthetics and unparalleled execution. By implementing a systematic, process-driven approach and investing in advanced tools and technology, we ensured that our team could deliver on every promise – from concept to completion – without compromising creativity or quality.

Thanks for talking with me today. My name is Melanie Haselmayr, and I’m the CEO and Creative Director of CURATED., a luxury interior design firm based in Miami Beach, with an additional office in Coconut Grove.

That’s a great question. My international background – growing up in Austria, plus living and working in design capitals like Paris, Milan, and London – has given me a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and creative talents. These experiences have shaped my ability to lead and manage a team of industry experts with varied backgrounds, fostering an environment where collaboration and high performance thrive.

I believe one of the keys to maintaining high morale is ensuring every team member is in the right seat, filling a role at CURATED. that is perfectly aligned with their unique skills and strengths. Once that alignment is achieved, I prioritize giving each individual the autonomy and support they need to excel. Transparency, collaboration, and mutual respect are core to my leadership style. I encourage my team to take ownership of their projects, approach challenges with creativity, and feel genuinely valued for their contributions.
