We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melanie Grandoit. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melanie below.
Melanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share a customer success story with us?
Before the pandemic, my husband and I signed up for a free memoirs writing class at the library. We wanted to learn how to write our life’s story. Fran Stewart was our memoirs mentor and she volunteered her time to help us document key moments in our lives.
When the pandemic hit, the libraries were closed and Fran was unable to teach classes in person. She reached out to me about building a new website so she could sell her books and maybe even teach memoirs classes online. We worked together to create her new brand. I created her color palette, logo, website, and brand photos. She found the confidence to start her business online and teach memoirs classes through Zoom. She went from teaching for free at the library to now running her own business and booking out her classes. I love seeing her success and it makes me happy to be a part of her journey!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my business after taking a break from a 15 year corporate career. I didn’t plan to start a business, however my husband saw the gifts inside of me and encouraged me to become an entrepreneur. I’m glad I listened to him.
I design websites for women entrepreneurs and service based businesses so they can generate more leads and book their ideal clients. I help business owners create a visual identity for their brand through color, design, and photography.
The women I serve are using their gifts to make a positive impact in their community. They are passionate about what they do and they seek to make a difference in people’s lives.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I’m learning as an entrepreneur is to find ways to have fun while doing business. During the pandemic, I put a lot of pressure on myself to be financially successful as a business owner. When things didn’t go as I expected, I felt like a failure and felt defeated. Instead of looking at the things that weren’t right, I lost sight of the good things I was doing and forgot to celebrate and have fun along the way. It’s important to see the good you’re doing and celebrate, no matter how small or big.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I love seeing people using their skill sets and talents to help others. We each have a gift that can solve a problem. Sometimes we need more confidence in ourselves and our capabilities. I hope to inspire women to use their God-given gifts to make a positive difference in this world.
