We recently connected with Melanie Eubanks and have shared our conversation below.
Melanie, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Entertaining and event planning had always been a part of my life. When I was a child, my family would host Christmas events where the turnout would be in the hundreds. Having a house full of loved ones celebrating together became a staple of what made me smile. It didn’t end there. As I got older, I had a typical nine to five job, but I would help friends and family plan birthday dinners with elaborate tablescapes and decorate households for major holidays. It was what I was truly passionate about and it was always in the back of my mind. When I started truly considering this passion as a means to start my own business, I got the opportunity to test it out. My niece was getting married and she wanted my help planning. It was this trial by fire that I needed to cement the idea that this is what I wanted to do. While it was a learning experience, each step was familiar and nostalgic and by the end, Lemon Drops was as good as here.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Melanie Eubanks and I’m the owner and founder of Lemon Drops Weddings & Events. It is an event/wedding planning and coordinating company that encompasses floral production and decor for events and everyday ordering. We help make the best days of your life less stressful by offering our experience and know-how. From decorating baby showers with beautiful arrangements to helping plan your big day, Lemon Drops is here to help make your dreams become a reality. We have a team like no other and that is what I believe sets us apart from the rest. Their dedication, adaptive skills, and diversity means that you’ll have a team from all walks of life who can help guide you and give you the best advice. We know the classics and can help you achieve that look, but we also love to take risks and be unconventional if our clients are willing to do so as well. No idea is too grand or outlandish for our team and it’s amazing how excited they get when given the chance to be creative.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
While Lemon Drops helps plan and coordinate events, we also offer decor rentals, are a fully functioning florist, and are a retail storefront! We try to offer as many services as possible to keep things simple for our clients. For weddings, we can offer not only day of coordination, but can also handle bouquets, centerpieces, candle rentals, and more! It helps streamline the process since our floral department works closely with our wedding/ event department. We’re one of the few event/ wedding planners that handles decor as well and our clients love that it simplifies this process.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth has been one of the best ways we have gotten clients for multiple events. The amount of referrals to friends from clients who booked us for weddings and repeat customers who refer family is the best source of advertisement we have come across. Nothing speaks louder than a recommendation after building a relationship. We can’t tell you how many of our clients for events were, at some point, a customer of our flower shop and how many of them return after their wedding for baby showers and family events.
