We recently connected with Melanie Druery Allen and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Melanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
The biggest risk that I’ve ever taken was becoming an entrepreneur.
Let me take you back to the beginning. I was raised at a family-owned and operated business my entire life. My job was marketing and finding avenues to multiply money. The thing is, I hated the task and dreaded it. The reality is that I learned so much information that I thought everyone knew.
Fast forward to 2016, I’m pregnant with baby number 5 and MLM is paying me pennies when I’m making them thousands per month. I started digging more into social media and my results were insane. Everyday, I’d get DM’s asking how I was breaking ranks so fast. I started coaching when I clocked out of work in the evenings. Soon, my evenings were filled with calls and I had to start charging. Only 1.5 people paid me at first. (Yes, 1.5! She believed in me then backed out as a client.) My first client was seeing insane results so more people hopped on.
Now, it’s 2019 and Covid is new and scaring the world. I got fired on my day off! Whew! Yes, my day off. This was terrifying because at this point, I’m making 5 figure days in my business but my job was guaranteed money. I started homeschooling my kids and I put my head down and got to work. That was the scariest year of my life. Coaching entrepreneurs, homeschooling my older 5 and I had a newborn baby. I had made up my mind that I would not go back to work.
My risk ended up being a tremendous blessing for me, my family and thousands of clients! Today, that risk has rewarded me with my own office, a full time team and endless testimonials of impact for clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Melanie began her marketing career by leveraging her skills to
grow her family’s tire business to a thriving operation. Since, she
has gone on to grow her clients’ service- and product-based
businesses to $100k, $300k, and even over $1 million in annual

follow his dreams and start a family business — Melanie now
inspires and guides women to building their own online empires,
all while raising her six children.
“Marketing gets a bad rap. People think it’s all about ads and sales, but
really it’s about claiming your path and hyping up your own greatness

How did you build your audience on social media?
It all started with a passion for helping entrepreneurs gain visibility, leads, and sales consistently. I knew that social media was the perfect platform to do just that, so I began my journey by focusing on Facebook and Instagram.
At first, it wasn’t easy. I had to learn the ins and outs of each platform and figure out what strategies worked best for my clients. But I was determined to succeed, and I was willing to put in the time and effort needed to make it happen.
I started by building a strong brand presence on both Facebook and Instagram. I created eye-catching graphics and posts that resonated with my target audience. I also made sure to engage with my followers and respond to any questions or comments they had.
As I began to gain more followers and clients, I started to experiment with different marketing techniques. I tried everything from paid ads to influencer partnerships to increase my reach and attract more clients.
But the real game-changer for me was when I began to focus on strategic marketing. By consistently producing high-quality blog posts, videos, and social media posts that provided value to my audience, I was able to establish myself as a thought leader in my industry.
This not only helped me attract more clients, but it also gave me the credibility I needed to charge higher rates for my services. Today, I’m proud to say that my agency has grown to include a team of talented marketers who share my passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed on social media.
In conclusion, building my marketing agency on social media was no easy feat, but it was definitely worth it. By staying focused on my goal and being willing to adapt and try new things, I was able to achieve the success I had always dreamed of.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Managing a team can be a challenging task, but building my marketing agency on social media taught me a lot about effective team management. Here are a few pieces of advice I would offer to anyone looking to lead a successful team:
Define your goals and expectations clearly. When building my agency, I made sure that my team knew exactly what our goals were and what was expected of them. This helped everyone stay on the same page and work towards a common goal.
Hire the right people. Building a successful team starts with hiring the right people. Look for candidates who are not only skilled in their field but also share your passion for the work you do. And remember, it’s not just about their skills – it’s also important to find team members who are a good fit with your company culture.
Communicate often and openly. Regular communication is key to keeping your team motivated and working effectively. Schedule regular meetings to discuss progress, give feedback, and address any concerns or issues that arise. And make sure that your team feels comfortable coming to you with any questions or ideas they may have.
Encourage collaboration and creativity. One of the things that helped my agency succeed was our focus on collaboration and creativity. Encourage your team members to share ideas and work together to come up with innovative solutions to problems. This not only fosters a sense of camaraderie but also leads to better results.
Recognize and reward success. Finally, make sure to recognize and reward your team members when they succeed. Whether it’s a bonus, a promotion, or simply a heartfelt thank you, acknowledging their hard work and contributions can go a long way towards keeping them motivated and engaged.
In conclusion, managing a successful team requires a combination of clear communication, effective leadership, and a strong sense of collaboration and creativity.
