We recently connected with Mel Parent and have shared our conversation below.
Mel, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
There is a positive correlation between Mind & Body. You cannot be fully well without nurturing both.
I had a post partum client that, like many mom’s, was struggling in the slump of an extended 4th trimester. She was fatigued, unmotivated, anxious, had gut issues, back pain and breakouts. The general overwhelm of where to begin and how to find the time while navigating motherhood, was an invisible road block that was ultimately leading to physical symptoms. Once she acknowledged that her current mindset was impacting her physical health and even appearance, she was ready to take action. Through 6 months of 1:1 coaching focused on mindset, anti inflammatory living and movement, she has experienced weight loss, decreased anxiety, improved energy and is feeling joy and fulfillment in motherhood.

Mel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Motherhood Mind & Body Wellness Coach. I focus on helping moms navigate the extended fourth trimester; hormonal shifts, sleep deprivation, bonding, anxiety/depression and body image/fitness. Traditional postpartum care typically consists of a 6 week wound check and postpartum depression screen. That’s it! Moms continue to experience healing and adjustment far beyond that time frame and are left feeling overwhelmed and unsure. Ultimately, this is a barrier for many moms when it comes to feeling fulfilled in motherhood.
Many wellness courses focus on one aspect of wellness, whether that’s diet, exercise, or mental health. My program emphasizes the mind & body connection and therefore focuses on optimizing wellness in both entities. Utilizing my personal experience as a mom of 2 (1 yo and 3 yo), certified Nurse Practitioner and fitness instructor I developed a 6 mo 1:1 personalized virtual coaching program. Together, we analyze the root cause of symptoms and strategize sustainable lifestyle solutions. I am not going to have you throw away everything that currently fills your cabinets and buy new products and supplements. I focus on a step-wise simplistic approach that is based on 3 pillars: Mindset, Movement and Anti-Inflammatory Living.
It can be hard to invest in yourself as a mom….everything we do is for our kids! This is true. Even by focusing on your maternal mind & body Wellness, your kids will benefit. When you have more energy, emotional stability and physically feel well, you will be a better mom for your kids!

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Staying focused on ME and MY business. In the online space, it can be easy to go down the rabbit hole of consuming and comparing content. By being sure about what I am offering, why it works, and am able to stay consistent in my messaging to clients.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Marketing to a very specific niche. When clients feel you are talking directly to them and the symptoms or problem they may be having, that is how you are going to make the connection and build trust.
