We were lucky to catch up with Meka Diamond recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Meka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
In 2020 I was seeking purpose. I had to pivot with my business of over 10 years and I looked into what I love doing versus what I was blessed with the gifts to do. In this season of my life I want what God wants and when reviewing the previous years I realized I was being set up for a time such as this. With V’Zable Evidence Consulting firm, I was able to scale my business with strategic partners and build a new empire titled Meka Diamond, Inc.
Meka Diamond Inc, was originally a thought from my latest book release “Diamond In The Ruff” How to transition from pressure to purpose. 6 years ago God gave me a vision while riding in my car that I wasn’t prepared to do. In 2020 as I sat I witnessed a shift in the world, I realized I too had to shift. The time I had to concentrate, the talks I had with God confirmed it was now the season of something new, a reveal. As I continued to rewind the years, I picked my consulting firm business apart and removed the fun parts, the personal parts, the things that I loved. I’m excited that I was able to not only birth a book, but birth a business at the same time.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My days are long in being focused on uplifting, inspiring, and motivating others. While being a business owner of several businesses there has to be balance in them all. As a motivational speaker and radio show host I use all of my resources to interwine with one another in order to produce great sound and create a safe space for dialogue. I start off at 8:00 AM M-F speaking to 70,000 listeners and end my day writing a outline of what I will speak about over the weekend. In my industry and in these times many are called, but few are chosen. I take the gifts that God has given me very seriously. I set myself apart by doing my research, praying, and seeking guidance in what I should speak about. I set my own standards of creativity and setting myself apart. I’m most proud of my consistency in being better, wanting to be sure I carry out my assignment. It feels amazing to prep, speak, and then receive the rewards of those who share what I spoke about was exactly what he or she needed to hear. I’m changing lives by being obedient
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being and entrepreneur is not for the weak it’s for the strong hearted haha. There were deadlines and strategic planning in my launching process. I lost money, friendships, and even in some moments tried to figure out how I would meet my own deadline. I overcame my challenges by first trusting God, being intentional in my prayers, fasting, being consistent, listening to my coaches, and support system cheer me on along the way. I realized I not only was doing this for myself, but I had to showcase the leadership that I coached them through in their process. I was now the living example for them to follow. Many nights of non sleep, early mornings being sure not to let my consulting firm business lack in any way. What I want the world to know is my heart goes beyond any dollar amount. My desire is to leave a legacy, enhance the lives I touch each and everyday, using any entity of my business. Meka Diamond will be a household name known for integrity, a genuine spirit, and a desire to see others win against the odds.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn that everyone isn’t apart of my growing journey. In some cases I put others before my own success and lost sight of what was in front of me. I gave money, time, and levels of expertise to some that used my gifts and disguised it as love for me and support. What a lesson I learned in this journey. Now I’m more careful and seek guidance in who I should partner with as well as who I should not.
