We recently connected with Meitar Paz and have shared our conversation below.
Meitar, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Hi, thank you for having me! I’d like to start with a poem I love about risks, written by William Arthur Ward.
“To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk involvement,
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken because
the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing,
does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live.
Chained by his servitude he is a slave
who has forfeited all freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.”
I personally feel like it’s impossible to be a risk free actor/ filmmaker.
The entertainment industry almost requires taking risks on a daily basis.
I think one of the biggest risks I took took was ‘starting from scratch’ and moving to LA all the way from Israel, so that I could chase my acting dream and take my career to the next level. I didn’t know anyone when I first moved here. I have heard a lot of skeptical opinions on the way, but it never stopped me from moving forward. And I’m extremely grateful for this exciting journey.
I believe that taking risks is essential in the entertainment industry, for several reasons. First, it allows artists, creators, and professionals to push boundaries and break new ground, leading to innovation and fresh experiences for audiences.
By taking risks, filmmakers can bring unique ideas to life, challenging traditional norms and delivering captivating content.
Second, risk-taking helps individuals stand out in a crowded industry. In an industry that thrives on novelty, playing it safe often results in blending in with the competition. By taking calculated risks, individuals can differentiate themselves, gain attention, and create a distinct identity that resonates with audiences.
Third, risk-taking is a catalyst for growth and personal development. It encourages Actors and filmmakers to step outside their comfort zones, explore new avenues, and test their skills and creativity. Through these experiences, they can learn from both successes and failures, honing their craft and expanding their repertoire.
I also think taking risks can lead to career opportunities and collaborations. Bold ideas and ventures can capture the attention of industry professionals, potentially opening doors to new projects, partnerships, and networks. Being willing to take risks demonstrates passion, ambition, and a drive to excel in the ever-evolving entertainment landscape..
Though I do believe that risks should be calculated and well-informed, rather than impulsive or reckless.
“Living with fear stops us from taking risks, and if you don’t go out on the branch, you’re never going to get the best fruit”
So I wish you guys happy responsible risking ;)

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, thank you for having me! My name is Meitar Paz, and I’m an actress, writer, and director.
Originally from Haifa, Israel, I made the bold decision to move to LA approximately seven years ago with a deep aspiration to elevate my acting career. Since then, I have immersed myself in the world of acting, pursuing comprehensive studies and honing my skills to prepare for the next level.
My journey began as an actress, working on various projects and immersing myself in diverse roles. However, I felt a burning desire to expand my creative horizons and tell stories that resonate with important messages.
This led me to explore writing, and I’m proud to have written two award-winning films: ‘And They Lived’ and ‘Invisible Flags.’ The latter film, ‘Invisible Flags,’ has garnered tremendous recognition, winning over 20 awards in film festivals worldwide.
For me, writing and creating my own films hold immense significance. Firstly, I firmly believe in taking action and actively creating opportunities rather than solely waiting for them. Writing allows me to craft narratives that have a profound impact and touch on essential societal issues. Through my work, I strive to inspire, advocate for social justice, and give voice to marginalized groups and important causes.
Challenging myself with complex characters is another aspect I really enjoy in my creative process. It pushes me to explore new dimensions and stretch my abilities as an actress, further enhancing the depth and authenticity of my performances.
Additionally, I am an improviser and an improv coach, regularly performing in various comic cons across America. It’s a joyous opportunity to embrace spontaneity, connect with audiences, and share the joy of laughter.
Having been recognized as a recipient of best actress awards from festivals worldwide, I’m humbled by the acknowledgment and take it as a responsibility to continue inspiring others through my work, and keep spreading positive energy and fostering a sense of empathy.
Ultimately, I aim to utilize the power of art to contribute to society, shed light on important issues, and make a meaningful impact. By continuously pushing boundaries and leveraging my skills as an actress, writer, and director, I hope to leave a lasting impression, uplift communities, and inspire positive change.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. As an actress and filmmaker, I am driven by a clear goal and a powerful mission. My creative journey is fueled by the desire to make a meaningful impact through storytelling and the visual medium
My goal is to create compelling and thought-provoking narratives that resonate with audiences on a deep level. I strive to elicit emotions, challenge perspectives, and inspire conversations that can lead to positive change in society. I believe that films and performances have the power to shape perceptions, ignite empathy, and foster understanding among diverse individuals.
Furthermore, I am passionate about giving voice to underrepresented groups and shedding light on social issues that need attention. Through my work, I aim to amplify marginalized voices, promote inclusivity, and advocate for social justice. It is my firm belief that art has the potential to effect real-world change, and I am committed to utilizing my platform as an actress and filmmaker to contribute to a more compassionate and equitable world.
In addition to my societal mission, I am driven to continuously challenge myself as an artist. I aspire to explore diverse characters, tackle complex roles, and push creative boundaries. By embracing versatility and expanding my range, I aim to grow as an actress and filmmaker, continually honing my craft and offering audiences unique and captivating performances.
Ultimately, my creative journey is rooted in the belief that art has the power to enlighten, inspire, and provoke meaningful discussions. Through my films, performances, and storytelling, I am dedicated to leaving a lasting impact, encouraging empathy, and sparking positive change in the world.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As an artist or creative, the most rewarding aspect for me is the ability to evoke emotions and connect with audiences on a profound level. Being able to touch someone’s heart, make them think, or inspire them through my work is incredibly fulfilling.
Art has a unique power to transcend boundaries and bridge gaps between individuals. When someone resonates with my performance or engages with my creative expression, it creates a profound sense of connection and shared experience. Witnessing the impact of my art on others, whether it brings joy, provokes introspection, or sparks a dialogue, is immensely rewarding.
Moreover, the creative process itself is deeply gratifying. Having the freedom to bring my ideas to life, to express myself authentically, and to explore different facets of the human experience allows for personal growth and self-discovery. It is a constant journey of exploration and pushing boundaries, both artistically and personally.
Additionally, being an artist or creative grants me the opportunity to contribute to the cultural fabric of society. I have the privilege of adding my voice to the collective tapestry of stories, perspectives, and emotions. Art has the power to inspire change, challenge norms, and provide a platform for marginalized voices. Being a part of this creative landscape and having the ability to shape narratives that impact individuals and society is truly rewarding.
Ultimately, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative lies in the ability to make a difference, connect with others, and leave a lasting impact through the power of creativity and storytelling. It is a privilege and a calling that brings immense fulfillment and purpose to my life.
