We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meghna Thacker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Meghna , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back at internships and apprenticeships can be interesting, because there is so much variety in people’s experiences – and often those experiences inform our own leadership style. Do you have an interesting story from that stage of your career that you can share with us?
When I was in the 3rd year of medical school, I began clinical rotations. There were a certain number of clinical hours that I had to complete before I graduated from my four year program. One had a certain number of on-site rotations to complete and then there was a choice of on-site or off-site clinical rotations. Of course, they both are great experiences to have but I aimed for as many off-site rotations as possible to get a real-time diverse experience of a clinical practice. The onsite rotations were at our college’s medical center itself while the offsite rotations were at different locations in the valley which had a tie-up with our college. I did rotations at Hamilton Elementary School which falls under Phoenix’s low income neighborhood. I got a good experience in pediatrics and community service by interning there. I did rotations at drug and alcohol detox community clinics using Nutrient IVs, Homeopathy & Acupuncture as treatment modalities. I had a couple good shifts working at Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, one of them was in a town of Guadalupe which is predominantly Hispanic & Native American residents. I even got to work with some wonderful private practices in Scottsdale. As a student/ intern and observer with an open-mind, I tried to make the most of my time at every rotation I was assigned to.

Meghna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Licensed Naturopathic Physician in the State of Arizona & Founder of Feel Your Best Self Naturopathic Medicine. I am passionate about helping people “Feel Their Best Self”. I like to take my time to listen to my patients and help them get to the root cause of their health problem. I graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ upon completion of Bachelors in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery from Mumbai, India. I love to learn and stay updated with the cutting-edge tools of medicine in my field so that I can provide the best treatment options to my patients.
My passion to help people suffering from hormone disorders is drawn from my personal struggle with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis & Hypothyroidism. I have created a protocol that I share in my book, “Seven Steps to Heal your Thyroid”. The protocol is based on my clinical experience and backed up with evidence-based medicine. Besides my best-selling book, I have my own professional-grade supplement line providing high quality formulas that are manufactured in the U.S.
I have been featured on several TV Shows like Sonoran Living on ABC 15 and Fox News Channel. I like to stay connected with my Naturopathic community & am affiliated with The Institute of Functional Medicine & American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. I believe “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller.
I am proud of the Hormone Pellet Therapy procedure that I offer in my office which I learned from the pioneer himself, Dr. Gino Tutera. I have seen it change women’s lives for the better.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I worked for a few practices for more than a decade before I started Feel Your Best Self Naturopathic Medicine. The COVID 19 took over the World in March 2020. All of a sudden, my boys were home from school which made me take time off from work. First time in a very long time, I felt like I had time to “think”. Everything around seemed uncertain, nobody knew what the future may hold. To me, it also seemed like my life had “slowed down”. I found time to spend in my backyard and some time to think and breathe peacefully amongst the external turmoil. I decided to take the Leap of Faith and start my own practice. I gave my notice at the office I worked at at the time and rented a space and opened my doors on September 1, 2020.
Of course, it was not as simple as it sounds but I began working on every aspect of the business.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think my bedside manner, patience in listening to my patients, keeping an open-mind to the difference in opinions of people besides of course developing expertise in my field, helped build my reputation within my market. I am very thankful because my practice is growing by word of mouth.
