Meghana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
hope my legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and meaningful connections. I want to be remembered as someone who embraced life fully, stayed true to my roots, and created lasting memories with the people who matter to me. Whether it’s through the relationships I build, the values I pass on to my family, or the small moments of happiness or a successful career, I want my presence to leave a lasting, positive imprint. At the end of the day, if people think of me with a smile and say, ‘Meghana lived with heart,’ that would be enough
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a celebrity fashion stylist with a passion for storytelling through style. I’ve had the privilege of styling A-list actors for movies, magazine covers, and red carpet events. My journey into the fashion industry was fueled by creativity, determination, and a deep love for helping people express themselves through what they wear.
My work goes beyond clothes—it’s about capturing personalities, elevating confidence, and helping my clients share their stories through fashion. I believe style should be authentic, meaningful, and timeless, which is why I focus on curating looks that resonate with who they are.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect deeply with my clients and translate their vision into powerful, statement-making styles. Whether it’s a character on screen or a persona on the red carpet, I aim to make every outfit a reflection of their journey.
I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come and the relationships I’ve built along the way. More than anything, I want people to know that my passion lies in making them feel seen, celebrated, and empowered. Every look I create is a piece of their story—and through that, I’m honored to be a small part of their lives.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the hardest but most valuable lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that being sweet and nice would always open doors. I started my journey young and naïve, with no mentor to guide me. I believed that my soft nature would take me places, but I quickly realized that in this industry, softness can sometimes be mistaken for weakness.
People underestimated my worth, delayed my payments, and were quick to place blame on me when things didn’t go as planned. I had to toughen up, set boundaries, and learn to stand my ground. At the end of the day, my job isn’t to please everyone—my job is to design. And if someone is uncomfortable with that, then that’s their burden to carry, not mine.
This shift in mindset didn’t just change the way I do business; it empowered me to take full ownership of my craft and my value. I’ve learned that confidence and resilience are just as important as creativity in making a mark in this industry
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments of my career came with my very first movie project—a Tamil film. I was just 21, stepping into the world of glitz and glamour, and I quickly realized that standing my ground would be one of my greatest challenges.
From day one, I faced obstacles. The director wanted me to alter the heroine’s costumes to make them more ‘sexy,’ even though the character didn’t call for it. I refused because I believe in designing with integrity—staying true to the film, the character, and my own values. My refusal didn’t sit well with him, and he lashed out at me in front of the entire set. I cried that day, but I didn’t back down. At the end of the day, my name was going on that film as the costume designer, and I wasn’t going to compromise my career for the sake of pleasing someone else.
Then came another challenge—a powerful PR figure in the industry. He despised the fact that the actors appreciated my work and formed genuine professional and personal bonds with me. Since he had ties to another costume designer on the project, he saw me as a threat. He called me, threatened to ruin my career, spread negative press about me in leading magazines, and end my journey before it even began.
I had a choice—give in to fear or stand my ground. I chose the latter. I told him plainly that I wouldn’t be intimidated. I had done nothing wrong, and I wasn’t going to let threats dictate my path. I refused to compromise my craft or my relationships for industry politics. As a result, they made sure my name never made it to the title card, and despite all my hard work, I was never paid for it.
But despite everything, I walked away with something far more valuable—lifelong friendships with some of the most amazing people I met on set and a team that stood by me at every turn. They didn’t hesitate to put their own jobs on the line if this mistreatment toward me continued. Their loyalty and support meant more to me than any credit on a film.
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of myself. That experience taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving tough situations—it’s about knowing your worth, standing firm in your values, and refusing to let anyone take that away from you. That’s a lesson I carry with me to this day.
