Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meghan Rothschild. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Meghan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business was born, frankly, out of repetitive sexual harassment in the workplace. I realized that if I wanted to succeed, I needed to take things into my own hands. I wanted women to feel empowered, to own their femininity and to find their voice through strategic Marketing and Public Relations. I started Chikmedia to do just that, and we’ve been in business for 10 years helping companies of all sizes develop strong and effective Marketing Strategies.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the President and owner of the marketing and public relations firm Chikmedia, a company that puts an emphasis on female-run organizations and women business owners, and offers strategic marketing planning, and creative PR.
I have over 18 years experience in Marketing and Public Relations. I am experienced in the craft of public speaking, branding, crisis communication and media relations. I consider myself a captivating and knowledgeable speaker, or at least that’s what people have said! I share anecdotal stories, real life experiences and best practices to keep the audience engaged.
I’ve been featured in numerous media outlets such as Marie Clare Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Teen Vogue, WebMD, ABC World News, The Huffington Post, Associated Press, Inside Edition, NBC Nightly News and CNN, to name a few. She was featured in one of 2011’s most shared YouTube videos called Dear 16 Year Old Me. My work in skin cancer awareness landed me an award from Cosmopolitan Magazine alongside Kristen Bell and David Wright.
My influencer work on Instagram has landed me accounts such as Dunkin’, Pride Stores and Loft where I have acted as a paid spokesperson and product advocate.
Having been in business for over ten years, Chikmedia is a boutique firm that puts an emphasis on female-run organizations and women business owners; offering strategic marketing planning and creative PR.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
For most of my professional career, I was a National Spokesperson on the topic of Melanoma which was how much people knew of me. It was my entire brand, even though my education and expertise fell within Marketing & Public Relations. When I started Chikmedia, I really had to do a “rebrand” of sorts, reminding people of my experience and what I could do for them.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My audience on Instagram has been a multi-year journey! Luckily working in the field of Marketing, I understand some of the best practices and key components that make for good content. However, it’s always evolving. I think one of the biggest partnerships that put me on the map for my small community was my influencer gig with Dunkin, going on 8 years and counting! This really showed people that I was a content expert and it has allowed me to continue to position myself as such while educating and entertaining people.
