We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meghan Naumburg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meghan below.
Meghan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time… I don’t think I would. I’ve learned so much during this period of my life. I had each turn and twist for a reason. To become who I am, to become who I choose to be. It’s best not to worry about what once was, because all we have is the ongoing present and the future. So what will I choose to do with the knowledge I now know? Who will I become with all that I’ve experienced? The possibilities are endless. Truly if we do not try in this current moment, then there is no possibility. I will endlessly continue to chose to pursue my passion with a creative career. There’s no other perfect timing such as the now!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a local artist and friend of the community. Primarily I create fine arts using materials such as graphite, colored pencils, and other mediums. I enjoy larger pieces of art (or murals) such as 24×24″ or larger. I am in the process of creating a brand of merchandise such as journals, posters, stickers, custom clothes, and more. I began creating as soon as I could pick up a writing utensil. It organically developed over time and eventually I realized how integral it is for my identity. I strive to create emotion-filled and thought-provoking drawings for the artist to indulge and observe all ways it makes them feel. I am bringing awareness to mental health and self-expression through each piece that is created. I am proud to say that I can ignite an emotional response with my art that lies to close to the heart… with the possibility that my art may keep it warm or push it to keep being strong. I am a very transparent person, I love to wear my heart on my sleeve, and express that through my arts and my words.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative person is the ability to thoroughly express yourself in words or pictures. The ability to release any and all emotions or thoughts into something so productive or beautiful. Something that is so uniquely yours that no one could create what you can. Our stories carve our artistic abilities and the was we express with them. Forever will I create something out of nothing. My mind will continue to collect and to learn, with that time comes new creations that bleeds hints with the change you’ve made. Sometimes when you have no one to listen to you, you have the paper or the canvas that caresses that ache. My thoughts become reality right before my eyes and I am able to share that vulnerability of creation with all who wants to see.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Always continuing to choose small businesses and artists. Support your entrepreneurs and creatives by interacting with their media or visiting their local shows, illuminating your life with original art, creating more spaces for local artists to share their art or story, and sharing their story to your circle.
