We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meghan Grimbert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Meghan , appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
My husband and I started buying, designing and renovating homes in the Miami Shores area. After our third renovation and hosting open houses people began to ask if I would provide these services, expanding to full scale interior design and renovation. I began to see an interest and need for my services in the area and have always dreamed of helping people make their house a home. Our renovations have always been centered around meeting function and luxury. Miami Shores is home to me and bringing my designs to life for clients right where I grew up has and continues to be an honor.

Meghan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my career in high end fashion, working with designers in both New York and Paris. In Paris I focused on the in store show room experience and during off seasons I worked directly with the lead designer sourcing all the intimate details that creates one garment. I was able to learn and understand how anything from a button, to a liner, to a zipper are the building blocks of what creates the final beautiful picture. During that time I was able to focus on the details and see how important they are to the final vision. One of the things that I take pride in providing to my clients is my attention to details. I always try to incorporate as many natural elements while layering different materials to complement each clients individual vision.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My business started via word of mouth and has grown from there. Social media, word of mouth and repeat clients are our main source of clientele. The best investment is hiring a professional photographer who works in your industry that allows you to create a cohesive vision for marketing platforms and social media. Remaining consistent in your content and visuals is important to ensure clientele can see consistency in your work.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation started based on my design aesthetic. My designs and renovations speak to my work and have allowed me to build from there. A team of reliable and great vendors has also helped with keeping my designs on track. Lastly a good team that keeps the projects on track allows for us to continue to have open communication and transparency in our designs and timelines.
