The Story Behind Nolia Florals
The idea for Nolia Florals really evolved from my childhood experiences. Growing up on Long Island, New York – I was surrounded by nature’s beauty between lots of greenery and endless coastal land. I was driving distance to beautiful beaches and flourishing flower farms. However, I was still under an hour from the energy of New York City and all it entailed. Additional, my love for creating inviting tablescapes stems from my mom. She has an incredible talent for creating stunning floral arrangements and table designs. Every celebration whether it was a birthday party, holiday dinner, or friends and family get together was inviting and extremely welcoming thanks to her creative touch. Those moments left a lasting impression on me, showing me how flowers could elevate any occasion and bring joy to people. It also taught me the importance of bringing the people you love together. I was also fortunate enough that my mother is a female entrepreneur who taught me that skies is the limit when it comes to owning your own business. She has empowered me every step of the way from childhood to small business owner.
I was fortunate to attend NC State, where I formed a wonderful group of friends that I call family to this day. I started experimenting with floral arrangements for various weddings and dinner parties. The best part was I was able to collaborate with my mom as well. The thrill of creating something beautiful together was amazing, and it really solidified my love for floral design. After planning my own wedding I had a lightbulb moment: why not turn this passion into a career?
I realized there was a need for minimalistic, more elegant floral designs that felt personal and unique. Many floral arrangements seemed overly complicated, often missing the mark on what clients truly wanted. I saw an opportunity to offer a fresh, “less is more” approach that would resonate with people looking for something meaningful and stress-free.
What excited me most about starting Nolia was the idea of transforming my floral design experience. I wanted to create an environment where clients could express their vision without feeling overwhelmed. I believed that by focusing on clean, beautiful designs and a personalized experience, I could really stand out in the market. I knew that flowers have the power to bring happiness and elevate any event, and I wanted to share that joy with others.
With this vision in mind, I took the leap to start Nolia. The excitement of being able to help others celebrate their special moments with beautiful, thoughtful arrangements was truly motivating. I was ready to turn my love for flowers into something meaningful, and Nolia was born!
Fun fact, Nolia is short for Magnolia. This has two specific meanings that resonate with me personally.
1. The Magnolia tree symbolizes luck and stability. Both are very important elements when starting a business.
2, Sugar Magnolia is one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs, and both me and my mom are dead heads (if you know you know).

Building my reputation within the floral market has been a journey based on several factors:

Adopting a minimalistic yet elegant approach has set my work apart. Clients appreciate the clean designs that enhance their events without being overwhelming. Consistently delivering high-quality arrangements has garnered positive word-of-mouth referrals.
Collaboration: Working closely with clients and involving them in the creative process has made a significant impact. I value their input and ideas, which not only results in beautiful arrangements but also makes clients feel valued and engaged.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best sources of new clients for Nolia Florals have been a combination of several strategies:
Word of Mouth: Happy clients have been my strongest advocates. When people are thrilled with their floral arrangements, they naturally share their experiences with friends and family. This kind of personal recommendation carries a lot of weight and has led to many new inquiries.
Referrals from Other Vendors: Building relationships with other event vendors such as wedding planners, photographers, and venues has been incredibly beneficial. They often recommend Nolia to their clients, and we could not be more thankful!
Social Media: Platforms like Instagram have been a fantastic way to showcase my designs and connect with potential clients. Sharing pictures of my work has helped me build a community of followers who often reach out for their own events.
Networking Events: Participating in local bridal shows and small markets has allowed me to meet potential clients face-to-face. These interactions provide an opportunity to create personal connections that can lead to bookings. It also allows me to showcase how we offer Flower Bars.
Website and SEO: Having a well-designed website with strong SEO has made it easier for clients to find me online. By optimizing my site with relevant keywords, I’ve attracted organic traffic from people searching for floral services in my area.
By leveraging these strategies, I’ve been able to cultivate a slow but steady stream of new clients.
