We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meghan Bichard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meghan below.
Meghan , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
When I started my company my primary motive was for it to be a remote position. After having graduated from UCF in 2017 and having our first son shortly before that, I wanted something that was going to be flexible and allow me to be home to care for our son.
Meghan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started MB Virtual Management about a year after I obtained my BA in journalism at the University of Central Florida. I took the year off after graduation to enjoy being a first-time mom, build my portfolio and build my brand. I wanted to put the skills I obtained in college as well as my vast experience in the customer service industry to use while taking advantage of the freedom of staying home with our son. Once I onboarded my first client, I realized how much I enjoyed the “work” – so much that completing projects and tasks didn’t really feel like a job, but rather something I looked forward to and enjoyed. I love keeping things organized and color coordinated, it makes my OCD heart happy. The impact I was having on my clients and their businesses — well that’s just an added bonus!
As a virtual manager, my mission is to help you ditch the overwhelm in your business by stepping in to take the day-to-day operations off your plate so you can get back to doing the things you love! I offer a variety of services, including but not limited to email and client relation management, calendar management, social media management, email marketing, blogging, graphic design, website and branding curation, and much more. Together we will define and implement strategic plans for your company and take action to achieve your goals and grow your business.
I primarily work within the wedding industry, an industry I didn’t expect to be so involved in but I am so thrilled that I am! When I first started, I found my very first client on my high school Facebook page. {Go Cougars class of 2004!} We had recently held a reunion, and I was curious what everyone did for a living…so I asked. It was there I found an old friend, who had built a career in photography and needed some help with the backend of her business. Through word of mouth, I gained other clients within the industry, and my business began to grow. Fast forward, and I’ve helped over 50 businesses within and outside of the wedding industry, get and stay organized.
Small business brands have so much talent to showcase, but not enough time to show it off. The services I provide are tedious and time-consuming. Streamlining these day-to-day tasks and getting wedding professionals organized helps to free up their time to be able to go out and create incredible art. The real value of hiring a virtual manager is freedom. The freedom to do more what you love both in business and in your life.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Simply put, being myself. I’m always very honest with my clients and I’m true to who I am. In an industry that is chocked full of imposter syndrome, there are a thousand ways to be a virtual manager. I never claim to know how to do something if I don’t. I don’t sugarcoat things for my client, because I would hope that someone would be straightforward with me too. My clients and I become family. You’ve built this business and it’s your baby, you should be able to trust that your baby will be in good hands.
Some fun facts about me: My husband Matthew and I got married during the pandemic back in 2020, we’ve got a little boy Mason whose 5, and another little boy on the way due in October 2022. My Disney knowledge is intense, and I welcome anyone to challenge it. I’m a sucker for Marvel movie marathons. I may recite Ted Lasso quotes, and have a serious obsession with I Love Lucy. Overall, I’m a big nerd, who loves her family, laughs at her own very cheesy jokes, and has a knack for keeping things organized.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I’ve never advertised my business on a large scale. I would say 90% of my clients come from referrals from current or previous clients or friends within the industry. I am super thankful to have such an incredible group of people I’ve worked with who continue to help my business grow.
