We recently connected with Megan Walsh and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
As a creative individual, patience with yourself is key. It took me a while to realize how important this is. When I start feeling overwhelmed with my business, I always notice a decline in my creativity. And since that’s the core of my business, it’s basically a recipe for disaster. I believe a lot of this comes from comparison. It’s really easy to compare where we are right now to our big, lofty dreams. However, I’ve learned that celebrating our small wins along the way is crucial for maintaining strong motivation. Social media can make us feel like we need to do all the things, all the time. But we’re just one person. We have to nurture our creativity by taking things one day at a time. Do yourself a favor and keep your to-do list as small as possible, prioritizing tasks from most to least important. This will save you from a lot of burnout!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Megan Walsh, a fine artist based in New Hampshire. Ten years ago, at the age of 16, I discovered my passion for painting, and it opened up a whole new world within me. It’s amazing how we all have hidden sides waiting to be uncovered.
As an artist, my goal is to transport viewers to a realm filled with infinite possibilities through expressive mark making, brush strokes, and vibrant color. The inspiration behind my creations is deeply rooted in hope, nature, and the radiant inner light that resides within each and every one of us.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The more you create, the more you learn about yourself. I’ve seen some major personal growth over the years. Spending time alone with yourself really makes a difference. Our art is like a window into our minds. We paint our dreams, our fears, and everything in between. And as we dig deeper into the meaning behind our work, we’re also uncovering more about ourselves and what we truly want out of life. It’s a beautiful thing to witness. My relationship with myself has never been stronger, and I have a much deeper understanding of who I am.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I know everyone says this but… just post your art, even if it’s not your absolute best. Perfectionism can really hold us back. When I started consistently sharing my paintings every week, that’s when I saw the most growth. Share the meaning behind your art and bits of your process. People love to see how the creative mind works, and it helps them connect more to your art. It can be so scary to put yourself out there, but it’s worth it. You never know what kind of amazing opportunities are waiting for you.
