We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Megan Norris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Megan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
My Husband and I started Modern House Events in July of 2022. I saw that White Bounce houses were becoming a cool new trend in the Event Industry so we started up our small business as a side job on the weekends. White Bounces Houses are a classic feature that will match any theme and of course loads of fun for all ages.
We initially partnered with other local vendors in the area and learned a lot. In the beginning of this year we decided to expand our services and have now offer full service Party Planning. Our goal is to offer a “one stop shop” experience and make it as seamless and easy as possible for our clients. Our biggest compliments we receive are “that was so easy” that they actually enjoyed planning and collaborating with us.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Since I was a little girl I always loved planning elaborate Events and making each on special for my family. I was often the one setting the table with “fancy” plates and napkins and finding excuses to decorate around the house. One year I decided I wanted to leave our Christmas tree up and decorated it different for an entire year. As an adult and Mom to two young children my passion for creating unforgettable moments for them has inspired me to share my gifts with others. My goals is to help others turn their creative dreams into reality. Here are different ways I can assist with your Event:
Comprehensive Event Solutions: I provide end-to-end event planning and consultation services. From conceptualization and design to logistics and execution, I handle every aspect of your event. This alleviates the stress and burden on my clients, allowing them to enjoy their special day without any worries.
Meticulous Organization: I’m known for my impeccable attention to detail and rigorous organizational skills. I meticulously plan and coordinate every aspect of the event to ensure everything runs smoothly. From vendor selection to budget management, I handle it all with precision.
Extensive Vendor Network: Over the years, I’ve cultivated strong relationships with top-tier vendors, artists, and professionals in the industry. This network enables me to source the finest cuisine, entertainment, decor, and services, ensuring that every element of the event is of the highest quality.
Personalized Approach: I prioritize understanding my clients’ vision and preferences. I work closely with them to create a personalized event that reflects their unique personality and style. It’s not just about planning an event; it’s about telling a story and creating lasting memories.
Stress Reduction: One of the main problems I solve is the overwhelming stress that often comes with event planning. I take the burden off my clients’ shoulders, allowing them to relax and enjoy the celebration. I handle the challenges, so they can focus on making memories.
Unforgettable Moments: What I’m most proud of is my ability to craft unforgettable moments. I don’t just plan events; I create experiences that leave a lasting impact on the hearts and minds of the attendees. It’s these memories that make each event truly special.
Passion and Dedication: I’m deeply passionate about my work. Every event is a labor of love for me, and I put my heart and soul into making it perfect. My dedication and commitment to excellence are unwavering.
What I want potential clients to know is that when they choose me and my brand, they’re choosing a partner who will go above and beyond to make their vision a reality. They’re choosing someone who understands the importance of their event and will treat it as if it were their own. I aim to create not just events but magical experiences that people will cherish for a lifetime.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth and client referrals- we absolutely love when we hear past clients recommended us.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is perfection is the enemy of progress. It is ok if something doesn’t end up the way you planned or wanted it to turn out. As long as clients are happy and you’ve done your best, that’s all you can do. Some days the wind will blow away all your decorations or you’ll forget an item you needed its all about problem solving and may not be “perfect” all the time.
