We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Megan Kozak. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Megan below.
Megan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
It was 2013, I had just graduated nursing school and, with stars in my eyes, spent my last $5,000 on a weekend injectable course. Back then, being a nurse injector wasn’t trendy like it is today—it was rare, uncharted, and a risk.
But by the end of the course, I looked around at my classmates—a doctor, a dermatologist, another nurse—and we all shared the same look: Is that it? What we had just been taught were cookie-cutter injection patterns and point-and-shoot techniques. It was all templated. Zero customization.
That was my ‘aha’ moment. The lightbulb went off: No wonder there’s so much bad work out there. These courses weren’t designed to create skilled injectors—they were designed to fill seats and cash checks. I realized then that if I wanted to deliver the level of results I would feel proud to put my name on, I’d have to unlearn what I’d just paid for—and teach myself a higher standard.
This moment didn’t defeat me—it defined me. It shaped my entire approach. It’s what led me to develop the ARCHITOX™ Botox administration method as well as the HydratedNOTinflated™ lip method. It’s why I built my own strict step-by-step process for full face optimization. It’s why I obsess over precision and predictability. And it’s why I created POUTx—to set a new standard instead of accepting the status quo.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Megan Kozak, RN and founder of POUTx, a Toronto-based clinic focused on delivering strategic, natural-looking injectable results through our proprietary methodology. We specialize in Botox and filler—but what we *really* offer is clarity in a confusing industry.
I got into this field on a whim and immediately became frustrated with the low standards of the aesthetics world. After attending my first injectable course, I realized most of the training out there was cookie-cutter, rushed, and wildly underwhelming. There was no strategy, no real education on facial harmony—just point-and-shoot techniques that left patients with unbalanced, obvious results.
Instead of walking away, I built a new path.
At POUTx, we don’t follow trends—we follow data. I developed ARCHITOX™, a high-dose Botox application method designed to polish and rebalance the upper face while preventing muscle compensation, HydratedNOTinflated™, a lip filler technique that restores natural volume without looking “done,” and the FierceFACEformula™, a full-face planning system grounded in over 60+ clinical criteria. These tools help us take the guesswork out of injectables, so clients aren’t left crossing their fingers and hoping for the best.
Our team—called ArchiTECHS™—are trained in my methodology and follow a protocol-based approach to every face. We analyze facial proportions, symmetry, muscle activity, and the aging process to design a plan that’s personalized and precise. This has helped us earn over 600 five-star reviews and become a top-ten Botox provider in Ontario.
Our clients are often overwhelmed by options, unsure who to trust, and scared of looking fake. We solve that problem by giving them a strategy. A plan. A way to get results they love—without stress, confusion, or regret.
What I’m most proud of is that I broke every traditional rule to build something of my own—and now I get to work with a team of practitioners who believe in that same high standard. Together, we’ve created a new lane in aesthetics where confidence comes from clarity, and great results are never left to chance.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that authenticity comes second to professionalism. In the beginning of my career, I fell hard into the trap of what I thought it meant to be a medical professional—buttoned up, white lab coat, neutral everything. I believed I had to tone myself down to be taken seriously.
But the truth? Being someone I wasn’t was draining me. It felt like I was performing a role instead of showing up as ME. And I knew if I kept going down that path, I’d burn out—or worse, blend in with every other injector/clinic offering the same generic experience.
So I hit reset.
I gave myself permission to finally show up as ME. The REAL me. To build the brand I wanted to from day one—bold, elevated, and rooted in precision, but also full of personality. I stopped trying to fit in and started working on something that felt like mine. The result was POUTx. And ironically, the more authentic I became, the more trust I earned—because people can feel when something is real.
Unlearning that outdated definition of professionalism allowed me to step into leadership, set a new tone in the industry, and attract clients and team members who value results AND realness. That shift changed everything.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I think the real key to success in this field is simple: you have to be a savage. This industry is crowded—and most injectors are all looking in the same direction, doing the same thing. If you want to stand out, you have to look where no one else is looking and be absolutely non-stop.
That means obsessing over the full picture—not just your injection technique. It’s not enough to chase more certifications or post before-and-afters. You need to pour just as much energy into perfecting your customer experience, building trust, and creating a brand people feel—not just see. Technical skill might get someone in your chair, but experience is what keeps them coming back and raving about you to everyone they know.
Success in this industry doesn’t go to the most talented—it goes to the most intentional.
