Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Hamm.
Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was working full time as an elementary school teacher. As a way to earn a bit more income on the side, I started a personal shopping business. It was mostly friends and family at first but over the years it grew and I added additional services (styling, closet editing and style curating). Now I work full time for a local business curating styling boxes for customers and working events as an on hand stylist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t always easy. In the beginning, I would go months without a client and that started to be discouraging. Through the pandemic I worked on networking with other women entrepreneurs in the fashion industry. It was through those connections that my business really started to thrive.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full time style curator. I specialize in crafting styled boxes using local boutique clothing and accessory items. I also work as a personal shopper and stylist. I am most proud of the determination I have shown and work I put in to growing my business. I truly love working with clients and giving them a positive shopping experience. Stepping out of my own comfort zone to make new connections with other women in the industry allowed me to reach a much wider audience with my business. Giving me more opportunities to do what I love.
I truly believe what sets me apart is my ability to listen to my customers and see them as individuals. I love making them feel special and confident in what they put on.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
