We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Megan Hamm. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Megan below.
Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The mission behind my business, The Sassarita is to help people feel confident and sassy in what they wear everyday. At a young age I loved playing dress up and would often be found designing my own outfits for my Barbie’s. As time wondered on, a new passion for helping people grew. I found myself helping friends and family members choose outfits for various occasions in their lives. Renting out my own clothes was a frequent occurrence. I chose a career in teaching but would spend my free time shopping for my sisters and friends, never thinking I could reach a wider range of clients. After a run in with a complete stranger in a TJ Maxx, I decided that I could find a way to marry my two passions: helping others and fashion. The idea of The Sassarita was born that day, and it has been an amazing journey ever since. Style isn’t about the latest trends but about how the clothes you choose to wear make you feel. I love helping clients feel sassy and confident in clothing that they wouldn’t necessarily have picked out themselves. Let’s make today feel good and show the world the sass we have inside!

Megan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Megan Hamm and I am The Sassarita, a personal shopper and style consultant. My mission is to help people feel sassy and confident everyday when they step out into the world. I turned my love of fashion and helping friends and family dress for events into a business where now I can be of service to so many others!
My business grew after an encounter prompted me to realize the potential I had inside to help others through their own fashion journey. I began by just building The Sassarita as a side business while I continued with my career in elementrary education. When I saw the impact I was making, I chose to turn The Sassarita into a full time career.
I pride myself on supporting clients in finding what makes them feel sassy and confident without breaking the bank. The personal connections I create, as well as, helping you feel fabulous on a budget, is what sets me apart from other personal shopping and styling services. I think it is important for everyone to have the chance to feel great about the way they look and it is an integral part of my business model.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with many different clients. Helping them shop, style and edit their closets for different life events, life changes and so much more. I have styled everyone from big business CEO’s, to stay at home mom’s, to whole families of 6 and more. Each client is special to me and is treated with the individual care they need to fulfill their styling needs. I have also worked with local and major retail companies to host styling events, as well as, provided workshops on styling tips.
As a style consultant and personal shopper, I charge a flat rate consultation fee. From there I life to sit down with clients to discuss their ideas for their desired fashion needs, price point and style preferences. Once details are all ironed out, I get right to work putting together the perfect outfit for them! My services include personal shopping, styling and closet editing.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The thing that helped me build the reputation I had within the personal shopping and styling market was networking. I was very vigilant about networking with as many people in the fashion industry that I could when I first started out. I worked hard to make connections with retail managers, local retail store owners, as well as, prominent stylists and influencers in my area. Each connection lead me in a new direction and helped establish my social media presence which in turn brought me more clients. I also did not shy away from using the family and friend connections I already had to build a client basis, and market my business via word of mouth.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients for me has been through having a social media presence and word of mouth. Most clients that come to me for personal shopping services do so after seeing something I posted, or had been reposted, on social media. They are usually interested in where I purchased the items shown, or how they can style items they have in a similar way. The clients that come to me searching for closet edit services are usually coming to me because a friend or family member referred them to me. Making sure that I can stay relevant on social media, and continue to keep those client connections are both important for me to grow my business.
