We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Megan Feveryear. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Megan below.
Megan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a creative in the music industry, constantly working to create content that hopefully moves others to gravitate toward something. My mission for my media company has always been and continues to be, to create content, friendships, and relationships that leave people changed. This could simply be a graphic someone comes across on their social media page, I want them to step away from viewing that visual more encouraged than when they first viewed this graphic. When working with individuals I want them to view the relationship not simply as a working partnership, but as an opportunity to gain insight and feel encouraged by the individuals they are working with.
This is meaningful to me, mainly because so often I feel like we can be robotic in our day-to-day life. When life was not meant to be robotic, it was meant to be fully lived out as an adventure. When viewing life as an adventure that is when the most beautiful stories begin to unfold themselves.
Megan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I moved to Nashville close to three years ago now to pursue a career in the Music Industry (broad I know). After finishing my degree at Liberty University and Berklee College of Music I began a career as a Social Media and Digital Marketing Manager for artists across the board here in Nashville. I have been so thankful and blessed to have had mentors in the industry refer me to other individuals which has built up those who I call clients and friends. I currently work on tour promotion, public relations, social media management, production, content creation, videography, and dabble in some photography. From time to time you can catch me working in event management which is where I come alive!
In Nashville, TN you can find about 6,000 other people doing the exact same thing you are doing, so trying to set yourself a part is important. What sets me a part from the bigger marketing firms is simple treating each client like the individual they are, relating to them in a one-on-one setting, and truly getting to know the person, artist, and business they are.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
When I first started out in the music industry, I was told reputation was everything and that could not be more true! One person refers you to someone and then their friend refers you to someone else and so on and so forth. Building my personal reputation in the industry simply came from putting myself out there at various conferences, concerts, and events and getting to know as many people as possible.
The more people you network with and don’t just treat these people as potential “work partnerships” but actual friends, the more likely your network is to grow and your reputation right along with it.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My favorite part of being creative and partnering with artists is being able to see what I create has an impact on someone. When you create something, you never know if it will have any reach, I always create with the hope that this design or picture will bring someone joy and draw them closer in their journey. The true tell-all is getting to see someone come face to face with what you’ve created and seeing the life change happen, that makes what we do (the long hours, bad eye sight, and sometimes sleepless nights) all worth it.
