We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Megan Del Haro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Megan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Any thoughts around creating more inclusive workplaces?
Inclusivity can take many forms, from the ability to service clients with specific hair types or particular disabilities to removing all references of a specific gender within our salon marketing and branding. I understand that my salon can’t be all things to all people, but in the areas where I can make a difference, this this is something that will undoubtedly set myself apart from my competitors.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Here’s my story!
I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years, and I’m a booth renter, Salon owner, Commission hair stylist, Plat form artist, on set film artist, wedding pro artist, award events EMMYS, GRAMMYS, OSCARS making women beautiful for a event thats the best feeling in the world!
I’ve put myself in all categories. For the experience and for the adventure of meeting new people visiting Los Angeles getting there hair done to working with others in my industry.
Now that I said all of that… COVID has left us, with still hearing that people are still getting it. I thought to myself how can I make it better? So I’ve decided to open and work in a private studio in North Hollywood where I can give a VIP experience to all my guests. With no wait time and give my full attention to one person at time.
I specialize in color, cuts, keratin treatments, hair extensions and color corrections and using the right products to do so. Not many people know the process its takes to go from box color to finally going to professional. It’s a life style like signing up for membership you gotta put in the work at home.

Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
I gave 7 years to a business that was failing numbers were down every year! I felt stressed, over thinking how can I make it better. So I told myself Never give up and start over. If your business is not giving you happiness then sell it and push your restart button.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Now a days building a reputation with friends, family and others is using online apps. People want to see you on Instagram and facebook. Enjoy life and don’t be afraid to share it!
