Megan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Not all spiritual businesses have their customers best interest at heart. I want everyone who walks through our doors to have a safe, inviting experience that’s tailored to their individual practices and beliefs. I will always aide people in finding out what works best for them with their specific heritage. I have a lot of educational information on cultural appropriation and how it is so important to not use practices that are not from your own culture. I have taken classes on the Ethics of Spiritual Business as well as teaching many of my own classes to educate others. Here at Moon Phased, our customers best interest comes first, not the next sale.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My co founder I’m lucky to call my mom. She has always been supportive of any dream, interest, or hobby I’ve had. Her and my grandma are the reason I fell in love with crystals at such a young age (4 or 5). When Ralph was looking to sell the shop, he approached my mom with the idea. We had been customers there for as long as I can remember. I bought my first ever tarot deck from Ralph. So many people in our area have similar stories to this, the store has been a pillar to the spiritual community of this town for so long. My mom was devastated at the idea of losing it. I was in a transitional period in my life of not really knowing what was next when my mom approached me with the idea of buying the shop from Ralph. Immediately I was sold. Some say I am really brave for going into business with my mom because they could never with theirs, but I am immensely lucky to be doing this with her. In fact, I couldn’t imagine doing this crazy journey with anyone else. We support and uplift each other on the good, bad, and ugly days. We have managed to come out on the other side of any obstacles we face. I am immensely lucky and grateful to be doing what I do and with my family.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I set a pretty high standard for myself. I would say the shop is no exception to that. I pour my heart and soul into this place every day because I see what it can provide to others too. We see people in here sometimes on their worst days, to help or put a smile on their face in anyway makes it all worth it to me. We are living in some truly hard times right now, but I believe we set the example in the way we live our lives and hold ourselves. The standard here at Moon Phased is we meet you right where you are in life, and we walk through it with you. If a little magic is all it takes to make the world and the people in it feel a little lighter, that’s what I’m here to do.
