We recently connected with Meg Richichi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Meg, thanks for joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
I’ve been an Integrative Women’s Health Practitioner and Board-Certified Acupuncturist practicing Lifestyle Medicine for nearly 30 years. I spent two decades practicing in New York City, and in 2014, I bid farewell to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, intentionally choosing a lighter-paced life in Charleston, South Carolina. So, I traded my subway tokens for my spiffy bike, Betty, and took her everywhere! For the past four years, Atlanta has been my home, and I continue to serve women through my virtual clinic, reaching clients in Atlanta and across the country. I’m also the voice behind The Hormone Lifestyle Zone podcast.
I’ve also studied extensively in the United States and abroad with renowned physicians, herbalists, and master acupuncturists, including ongoing certifications in functional medicine and holistic nutrition. My studies abroad have included healing practices in the Brazilian Rainforest, Mexico, Ireland, and Vietnam, as well as at one of Ho Chi Minh City’s leading hospitals.
You see, in my teens, I began my health rumble. I battled with anorexia, and during my sophomore year of college, I started my struggle with bulimia. My journey to health and recovery from a severe eating disorder was a pivotal moment in my life. It sparked a passion within me to pursue the healing arts, which eventually led me to become a Board-Certified Acupuncturist in my mid-thirties. A few years into practice, I embraced a “food as medicine” approach and continued my education in functional-lifestyle medicine and holistic nutrition. I’m currently editing and tweaking my book on gut health– super excited for its release this Fall.
I genuinely enjoy rolling up my sleeves and digging deep to uncover the root causes behind many women’s gut health and hormonal imbalances, and why they’re not thriving. Most importantly, I’m dedicated to helping women remove their roadblocks and demystify their hormonal issues and health struggles. It’s truly an honor to walk this journey alongside all sweet lovelies in today’s world.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
That’s a wonderful question! When I was 12 years old, my teacher wrote a school play about the history of China, and I was cast as the acupuncturist. It felt like the universe was giving me a sign early on in my life. Coming from a large family of 10 kids, it’s fascinating that 8 of us ended up in healthcare and prevention in some capacity, while one of my brothers became a bio-engineer. I believe we all shared a common desire to make the world a better place through service and care for others. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey—it has all shaped who I am today.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Another great and thoughtful question! I have a genuine geeky passion for learning, and I strive to learn something new every single day. My primary intention is to empower my clients to become the best version of themselves. Many of them come to me after working with a multitude of practitioners feeling frustrated and still unwell. I consider myself a good listener and health detective, piecing together the unique stories and challenges each person brings. I often express to clients, “The worst-case scenario is that you’ll start feeling better.” And, they usually do!
