We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meg Palumbo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Meg, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Back in 2016, I saw my friend who owns Wichita Moms putting amazing content across their social media platforms. I followed and read but some had to do with local. I contacted her to see what the site was about and how I could do something similar here in Palm Beach. She introduced me to the City Mom Collective Network that is a network of over 90 parenting resource sites across the United States. I bought the rights to bring the network to Palm Beach county and started working on building the website and a team. I wanted to use my background in sponsorships, advertising, events and writing to connect with the community that my family and I called home. I wanted to bring a parenting resource that connected mothers with mothers here as well as mothers across the United States. I was excited to have a platform that allowed local, real mothers to talk about issues they were dealing with in motherhood as well as highlighting amazing businesses and events in Palm Beach. I am so lucky to do this along side another Palm Beach mother, Christen Thompson.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am founder and co-owner of Palm Beach Mom Collective, a parenting resource website in Palm Beach County. The goal is to connect local mothers and provide informative content about real life parenting in Palm Beach. Social media can be a place that is fake and not good for one’s soul, our goal is to be the opposite putting out content to let moms know they aren’t alone as well as help make this journey called motherhood more enjoyable.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
Christen Thompson started as a volunteer writer for Palm Beach Mom Collective. She is a kind, wonderful soul and completely understands the values and mission of Palm Beach Mom Collective. Christen started excelling as key writer on the contributor and event teams. In 2020, during the height of the Covid Pandemic, Christen asked what she could do to be more of a part of the team. I knew she would be a great person to help run the business and site.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our reputation is one of real moms that live in Palm Beach County. Producing relatable content that was real has helped us build this reputation. Mothers rely on word of mouth when finding out about business, events, doctors, etc. We pride ourselves in being an extension of this word of mouth. We only partner with businesses that we use and recommend to our friends and family.
