We were lucky to catch up with Meg Kaufman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Meg, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
MEGSMEG’s tagline is “helping startups start up; from idea to exit strategy”. This means, placing quality controls into every step of the process. A business cannot scale & grow without ensuring the continuance of the high standards it began with, so there must be checks and balances that are able to expand (and potentially shrink) to meet the needs of the market. I have worked in operations for most of my professional career, building companies from infancy to household names: I would never have been able to accomplish these levels of success without quality assurance built into every department, every process, and every position that I created. QA is the basis of each company’s success.
MEGSMEG was built intelligently. This is not to say there haven’t been mistakes along the way…it’s. to say we caught these instances and improved accordingly, which would not have been possible without having the equivalent of a second pair of eyes on each step we have taken. One of the ways we started MEGSMEG was by offering the service for free. This allowed us to help fellow entrepreneurs, as well develop our standard operating procedures, including where we needed to focus on building safeguards and most importantly, creating data to make replicable, standardized and. sustainable processes.

I created MEGSMEG, because I couldn’t find a company that aligned well. enough with my ideals; I wanted to. grab all the good from my past experiences and sprinkle in what I felt was missing, in an effort to create a company where people were excited to come to work and were proud of their product.

I met my MEGSMEG partners from companies I have worked with in the past. As they have become available, I quickly jumped on the opportunity to offer them a foundational role at MEGSMEG. Having worked with each of them in some capacity for a minimum of a decade, I know them WELL. We have a shared history, are able to align our visions, and understand where we best add value. We are loyal to each other and we are loyal to the mission of MEGSMEG. The MEGSMEG team loves to share their passion for building scalable infrastructure and growing clientele with our customers. We aspire to give every person who wants to start their own business an opportunity to experience what we have achieved: career fulfillment and success.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Hitting the pavement and meeting fellow & aspiring entrepreneurs at meetups and networking events has been the most effective strategy for building MEGSMEG’s clientele. We offer fractional CMO services for this very reason: while we embrace AI and all the opportunity it presents to create a strong digital footprint, we still believe that there is no replacement for meeting prospective clients face-to-face.
