We were lucky to catch up with Meesha Kymbré recently and have shared our conversation below.
Meesha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I grew up, singing, so singing wasn’t necessarily always some thing I had to learn how to do, but there was a time when I would just simply write down lyrics and put them into a song, and they wouldn’t have any type of flow , and it wouldn’t be because I didn’t relate to my lyrics. It was because I hadn’t truly found my sound nor myself like I was still discovering me and I don’t feel like that is something that ever stops… I haven’t fully found my sound, but it is a learning process. The most essential skill as an artist is to experience as much as you can experience .As Painful as it is as happy as it is even the confusing things ,even if it’s not something you yourself have dealt with listen and allow your pin to form a story around that and then when you sing it and put music on it and put a tone on it, allow those feelings to express themselves. Being a painter, I realized that me being a songwriter and a singer tie into an empty canvas like a beat is just an empty canvas in my words are the colors. Life is an empty canvas and our experiences are the colors they are the full picture.. a lot of the times my obstacles were just procrastination or not having too much confidence in myself to the point where I wasn’t confident with releasing my music so I had to get over myself to mess with myself and realized that I am the universe which is why my name is Unvrz. And when I say get over myself, it was more of like I’m putting all this pressure into thinking about my opinions on myself when yes, your opinions matter on yourself but you’re being selfish and you’re not allowing other people to experience you if you look at life as an experience, why shouldn’t people be able to experience what’s going on in your head or how you view it or your perspective because a lot of the times, everybody is going through the same thing and you never know who needs to hear it who needs to see your art or be a part of your art in someway so get over yourself and allow yourself to flourish in order to really grow .

Meesha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So I’m a songwriter and I’ve written a couple of songs for people, but mostly for myself. I’m also an artist I do fashion, sketches and portraits for people and scenery art which I’ve sold in the pass . I would say one of my greatest aspects of myself have an ability to help others reevaluate how they view themselves, enable them to look at things from a different perspective, and not necessarily feel so alone, and what they’re going through or feel so down about what they’re going through because at the end of the day the day is going to end so why not live while you can? I’m a big believer of “YOLO” And that expression will deplete depression. And when I say that I mean express yourself, feel how you’re going to feel let it out and allow time to move because holding stuff in doesn’t necessarily help anything because that time is going to be moving and you’re gonna be holding it in to the point where you’re gonna feel like you’re gonna explode combust into 1 million pieces and that’s not coo for anyone, but especially not you. I’m not signed to any record deal li
I believe in independence but that’s not to say that I won’t ever sign to anybody I just haven’t gotten to that point yet. I have been doing a lot of video shoots , for artist that I work with and it’s fun. I also have a lot of upcoming projects and EP’s and I’m really excited about them being put in the light and seen.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There’s been times when I’ve written songs and I’ve put music out simply for me because it was something I was feeling and going through and I just wanted to sing about it and let it go. I would be thinking that the song was sad and depressing not necessarily that it would help anyone but kind of just having this audio journal if that makes sense.people Started to hit me up and tell me how much
they really love the songs or how they’ve been listening to the song over and over again for years on repeat and it’s helped them through so much and I would be surprised like, really ?! are you for real? Because I know I wrote it from a place of heartbreak but people relating to it and understanding that a lot of emotions that we feel as humans is normal and OK and helping others and myself to hear and understand that on accident is really a beautiful thing.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
As a creative, there are times where I really do simply want to disappear and that’s not depression talking it’s more of needing time to really decipher through my thoughts and figure out what the hell is going on and what I realize about people who aren’t creators is they don’t understand that instant need for a bit of dissociation or alone time and cutting people off every now and again but that might just be because I’m an Aquarius I’m not sure… having ideas 24 hours in a day is draining and not always having an outlet for those ideas is even more draining so buckling myself down and really putting in that grind time and effort causes for alone time and getting in my loner bag . Creating things that have never been created before can cause a person to be a bit crazy so when people say that I’m crazy I kind of just laugh Because of course I am I think all creators are, but finding that quiet place is always a good thing. A lot of times people think I’m not doing anything or I’m being lazy but I don’t feel like I always have to talk about everything that is being done. It’s something that is going to be seen, people who get it get it and that’s all that matters .
