Meenakshi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

My blog’s name was easy to come up with. It is literally what I do! I’m a budget traveller who loves to travel light and take photos wherever I go and this is something I encourage all my readers to do, hence the name Backpacking with my lens.

Meenakshi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Travel doesn’t have to expensive! Is the exact thought that came to my mind in 2017 which led me to create Backpacking with my Lens, a travel and lifestyle website, solely focusing on helping people experience India like a local and provide budget itineraries for all the destinations around the globe.

Traveling has always been a thing for me. The travel bug stung me at a young age, thanks to my parents. You can say that my parents passed on their love-for-travel genes to me. Since then there has been no looking back. And I’m proud that I could help thousands of people by sharing my experience and expertise in the field of travel to make their budget travel a reality.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Building my audience on social media was a long but fun journey of trial and error. I started posting pictures from my travel that attracted people who wanted inspiration but my main audience came out when I started posting budget itineraries and travel ideas. In short, I had to niche down and create content that was easy to digest and provided value to my audience’s life. Along with regularly engaging with them, from Q&As to polls.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Being consistent with the type of content I was posting and showing up on the platform no matter what helped me build trust and reputation within the market. Plus, putting out authentic and unique content made a difference.
