We recently connected with Meech Da Shredda and have shared our conversation below.
Meech Da, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
A couple years ago I found myself watching WWE. I realize that wrestling is predetermined but people still watch it like it’s real. So I wanted to tap into that market with something that was real. Also in the city of Cleveland Ohio there is no real opportunities for artists who are up and coming to develop and grow their skills. So what I wanted to do was create opportunities where I didn’t have them when I wanted to be a artist. So I came up with a whole bunch of Concepts through them at the wall to see which one would stick. I like the concept of battle rap mono y mono Man versus Man Woman versus woman man versus woman. I wanted to do the same thing with artists who need a place to Showcase their performance skills instead of battle rap. So in early 2022 Battleground performance League was created. We launched our first event December of the same year and we have been doing events ever since.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well my name is Demetrius Cole better known as Meech Da Shredda. I have been in the music industry in Cleveland Ohio since 2010. I’ve done hundreds of shows I’ve been all around the country doing events with bigger name artist. I dropped my last musical work and maybe 2019 before I decided that I should put myself in a position to open doors for up and coming artists. My journey has not been an easy one I have lost friends and loved ones people who I thought would be there with me till the end. What we do at Battleground performance League is give artist a place to express themselves grow singers and rappers alike. Iron sharpens iron so I look for the best in the state I look for the best in the state to compete in battlegrounds Fight for Ohio tournament. Currently there have only been two champions Hazee our 1st champ can be followed on Instagram @iam_hazee and the current 2x champ “The big 1” @envy_jazzo who has been destroying all competitors. There have been 3 tournaments so far and the 4th June 25th 2023.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Being out amongst the people and utilizing my social media I have been able to connect with extremely talented artists some who would just like to perform at my events others who would like to compete. Also we’ve put up billboards and have been traveling around the state connecting with different cities to influence regular audience members to create a fan base for the artist that compete and perform in the tournament. So I would say the best source of new clients is the people.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Sure I basically spend more time on social media then I feel like I should LOL. I’m always promoting sharing liking commenting on others post to bring awareness to what I’m doing. I’m always sending out information to normal people not just artists to create a buzz and awareness for the artist. This way when people who aren’t in the industry come to see them they can create a lifelong fan. Your fans are the most important when you are an artist they will help you get where you want to be and support you before some of your family and friends will. At Battleground since it’s about performing The Artist gets a chance to win over someone who might have not known that they were ever going to be in the room. That person that will play the music search you out watch all your videos will help others find out who you are and Build You Up.
