We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Medicine Mama Kia Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Medicine Mama Kia below.
Medicine Mama Kia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
The Witch Wellness Shop LLC offers our clients who identify as POC or QUEER the opportunity to pay forward what you can financially afford. Meaning you can donate for a product, service or workshop instead of paying the full price if you cannot afford the full price at that time.
This is one of the best experiences that I have had with all of my clients ultimately because it offers accessibility and affordability for natural medicine or consultation that shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.
For example, at the Black arts festival I had a customer who identified as a pansexual BIPOC individual who wanted to purchase a rich which oil to increase their money game, but only had $10 instead of the $20 for what it cost. I accepted the $10 and that person felt seen, appreciated and valued in that consumer shopping experience with a supporting brand.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is MedicineMamaKia and I am an Afro indigenous medicine woman who is rooted in Denver Colorado. I started my holistic healing business in order to create a healthier safe space, products and services for people of color in the Queeer collective. Because I personally identify as a Queeer BIPOC artist.
I got into the business of natural healing when I was in high school, studying herbalism and organic medicine to heal the mind, body and spirit. I had three family members with different stages and types of cancer that inspired me to find a natural way to cure the root of the problem, instead of addressing the symptoms like “Western medicine” does . My business goal is to provide a solution to the problem, not more problems to the problem..
We offer a variety of natural organic products and services ranging from lung detox herbal teas, Yoni steams, Lingam steams for men, waistbeads, yoni fruit earrings, copper wire wrapped rings, nose cuffs, angel number necklaces, intuitive guided tarot readings and holistic consultations via zoom.
Every last Sunday of the month we offer FREE mental health check ins at Gypsy house Cafe in Denver at 4:44 PM to 7 PM. If you sign up on our website and get a free ticket, you will get a free mental health gift bag at the workshop.
Each month we host Full Moon Ceremony to celebrate life’s accomplishments and release, with no longer serve us through activities, such as a fire burning Ritual. We sip tea, share resources, and howl at the moon. This is a safe space to meet new friends, network, and expand your business.
Our business solves mental health disorders, womb imbalances, chakra imbalances, and spiritual discord.
The ability to pay forward what you can afford for your service, product or workshop, is what sets us apart from our competitors. We focus on the well-being over the material game for our customers and clients which increase our return rate monthly.
I am most proud of curating safe space for the LGBTQ & BIPOC community and helping to women who were deemed infertile by western care. Doctors receive healthy pregnancies and delivery.
I want future clients and my followers to know that we are here to help you live a healthier, balanced, and magical human experience during your Earth journey..

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2023 I had my car stolen in the summer at an event that I was hosting for a Full Moon Ceremony. It was a very hard traumatic time of my life when it came to being a businesswoman, student, and working citizen and not having a car to transport around in. It was overwhelming sense that was a gift to myself for graduating college at MSU DENVER with a bachelors degree. I still had carhop payments on it, so even though it was stolen, I was still coming out of pocket monthly for transportation to school, work and home.
Instead of breaking down and stopping my business services, products and workshops, I decided to start over and continue with courage and persistency. I took the bus, Ubers, and even carpool with friends when I could two events with suitcases full of my product that I had to re-by and re-create since all of my products lived in my car with me at the time for my pop-up shops and events, which we’re daily at that time.
I did a few spells and asked my Spirit team for assistance and three months later. Got the car back in great condition. I guess magic is real..

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Unfortunately, I came out of pocket to start my business. I continuously do so, even though I do receive ticket fees for my workshops, those fees often go towards the expenses for the material of our activities at each event.
I do not have access to funding as of right now, but I am actively applying for grants in manifesting a shift 2025 so that I can continue hosting the safe spaces in providing natural products for the Queer and BIPOC collective on a monthly basis.
