We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meaghan Emanuel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meaghan below.
Meaghan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
It’s striking that women account for only 37% of small business owners in Canada and 22% in the US. I’m determined to change that by empowering more women in business through building brands they are proud of and love.
Curat[her] is a female-led branding agency that specializes in creating obsession-worthy brands for female founders. We believe that each woman has a unique story and vision. Our mission is to help bring these stories to life for our clients and the women who collaborate with us. I’m passionate about inspiring women to create the life they’ve always dreamed of through their businesses.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Having started two very different, but successful businesses—an at-home aesthetics venture that quickly transitioned (due to the pandemic) into an online swimwear brand, I discovered my true passion was in creating the brands themselves. I taught myself everything from branding and logo design to website creation and product packaging. People were drawn to the brands I built, and friends and strangers alike began hiring me for their own businesses. That’s how Curat[her] was born, eventually becoming my full-time focus.
As a woman diagnosed with ADHD very early on in life, I’ve faced many challenges over the years with the repetitive nature of 9-5 jobs and maintaining interest in my constantly evolving hobbies. This aspect of my identity has greatly influenced my entrepreneurial journey, and I frequently share my struggles and experiences with my online community. My goal is to serve as a positive example for other neurodivergent young women who may feel discouraged or overwhelmed when searching for their passion or pursuing their own entrepreneurial endeavors.
I do believe I found my calling in the branding industry because each project is always unique, keeping me engaged (giving me that dopamine boost) and allowing me to be as creative as possible. Really, what I love most is transforming someone’s vision into reality and getting to experience the excitement and passion they get as they prepare to unveil their brand to the world.
What genuinely distinguishes Curat[her] and me as its founder is the heartfelt care I have for each and every one of our clients. We prioritize not only the client experience in terms of the brands we create but also the way we engage with our clients. By getting to know their motivations, goals, and aspirations, we establish a relationship that goes beyond the scope of the project.
I pride myself on being available for my clients, whether it is project-related or not. I’ve fostered a community of passionate, driven women, and that is something I take great pride in. My aim is to provide a judgment-free space for women to seek business advice and celebrate their successes and milestones, acting as their Branding Bestie.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining strong connections is crucial for building customer loyalty and a cult-like following. To truly resonate with clients and your target audience, it’s vital to establish an authentic bond by being genuine, consistent, and present, particularly on social media platforms.
For those just starting out, I emphasize that it takes more than eye-catching branding, captivating posts, or a visually appealing website to win over clients. Trust is the key factor, and to build it, you must allow your audience to get to know you. This involves being actively involved in your business, consistently engaging with existing and potential clients, and sharing your personal experiences.
As human beings, we naturally seek connection, and this holds true in brand-building. People want to feel a sense of belonging and togetherness, which is the foundation for trust and community.
For me, I’ve fostered a strong bond with my clients and followers on social media by sharing aspects of my personal life, such as my fitness journey, the challenges of being a female entrepreneur with ADHD, and even the little things I love, like my bread maker, my two dogs, and my love for espresso martinis. I believe that while someone may initially follow my page for its aesthetic appeal, they’ll stay because they trust and connect with me.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
As a branding agency founder, I attribute our success to the power of word-of-mouth. We’ve never relied on advertising, but instead, we’ve focused on delivering exceptional client experiences, which in turn has led to consistent recommendations and referrals.
One piece of advice I’d offer to anyone seeking new clients is to prioritize the customer experience above all else. Of course, never stop learning and refining your craft, but always remember to show genuine care for your clients.
Adding a personal touch, no matter how small, can make an enormous impact on how your clients perceive your service. It could be as simple as remembering a detail about their preferences, offering an occasional freebie, or taking an extra five minutes to ensure their satisfaction. These little gestures can make your clients feel valued and appreciated, and they’ll be more inclined to spread the word about your business.
