Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mcklyn Valenciano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mcklyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I like to think that I put people first and foremost in my line of work. When someone steps in front of my camera, I want to make them feel elevated and beautiful and capture them as their true selves while at the same time surrounding them in beautiful light and a fashion lens. The fashion industry often has a reputation for being vapid, fickle or disposable. But I like to go against the current in a way that makes people feel special, seen, valued and at their core, undeniably beautiful. Having been in this industry now for over 15 years, I have seen and photographed many faces and seen a lot but it always comes down to delivering excellence and putting people first.

Mcklyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a fashion photographer by trade, but I believe that my camera is a bigger vessel to connect with people, travel, capture special moments and create relationship. I have been in the fashion industry for over 15 years and have spent my time in front of the camera, in model management, scouting, placement and commercial, styling, branding and creative direction.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Longevity is the name of the game for me. Feeling confident in the work that I deliver and being able to work with anyone. I check any ego or preconceived notions at the door and always treat anyone that works with me with utmost respect and kindness. I trust in the knowing my craft, making people feel comfortable, giving clear and concise direction but also allowing room for spontaneity and candid moments to come through. I like to put my stamp on the work that I am able to deliver to my clients and hope that their experience will lead to more referrals and return clientele.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I hope that my work will take me to uncharted waters and allow me the ability to travel to incredible destinations. I also hope to work with a long list of illustrious clients and notable models and celebrities. But I also hope that my work will also open up doors to helping people, putting the spotlight on people who may not otherwise have it shine on them and to bring just a little more good into this world.
