We caught up with the brilliant and insightful McKenna Thompson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

McKenna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

My goal is to be remembered for creating safe spaces for women. Whether that be from my years as a nail technician or in my future business. I want all women to feel beautiful and confident when they leave from whatever service I’ve given .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m Rose, the owner of NailsbyRose444 Salon . I’m a nail technician and spa owner, in my industry I provide nail service feet or hands I do all services acrylics gels etc. I’m known for my hand drawn nail art as nails are a small surface. I give a luxury experience that leaves each client with a unique and beautiful set each time. I work with all types nail bitters to naturally long nails . I am proud that I am a fully woman owned business and I create a lasting relationship with each of my clients.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Resilience should be my middle name I’ve moved to 3 different cities running this business while maintaining all my social media and getting new clients in the process. I work extremely hard each and everyday fully hands on. From physically give my business cards out to getting signs posted on each city I’m in. I’ve gone most times from knowing no one in the city I’m in to creating a fully booked clientele each time..

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Definitely my hobby of doing my own nails and my sisters became my career. I’ve always been in a family the prioritized our look and appearance with that came hair nails clothes and more. So I became teaching myself and eventually decided to get proper licenses and created my career. Milestones would be getting better at my time management and my application in acrylic nails.
